Where Do You Stand? Using the Term "Preggers"

While in line to get a cup of coffee the other day, I overheard a woman talking on the phone. No, I wasn't eavesdropping - everyone in the cafe heard her shout "You're preggers?!" It was really sweet that she got so excited, but I admit I was a little surprised that she used the term "preggers." Of course I've heard it before, but I didn't realize it was so mainstream. I'm kind of indifferent to the word myself, but I know some people who absolutely loathe it. So tell me, are words like prego, preggers, and preggie too cutesy for your taste?

Some kids are so cute I just want to run out and get preggers. I know it's a little more complicated than that, but this kid makes the choice seem easy. This little charmer is being asked by Grover what a marriage is. He does a pretty awesome job of explaining it. But why, Grover, are you pressing him for more information on what two people do in a marriage. He's a kid, ya fuzzy perv!

The "Prego Shuffle," eh? Don't you guys mean "preggo" or "preggers"? I thought Prego was a brand of spaghetti sauce. In any case, no rap song should ever, ever include the words "waddle" or "Kegel." Although, I bet a preggo MIA could get away with this! That's because she rules.

If you're not into taking hormones to prevent pregnancy, and you don't want something long-term like the Depo shot or an IUC, then condoms are a great option. If you're not a fan, another short-term option is to use spermicide, but I only recommend it if the person you're with is STI-free. Creams and gels can be really messy though (and some stain your sheets), so that's where VCF (vaginal contraceptive film) comes in handy! You insert it into your lady business 15 minutes before sex and it kills the sperm, preventing you from becoming preggers.

Can Sex Cause a Yeast Infection? Yes and No

If you've ever had a yeast infection, you know that it's not something you want to go through again. The good news is that you can do a lot to keep the healthy bacteria below your waist at a normal level, like wearing cotton undies, loose fitting pants, and avoiding douching altogether.

Staying dry down there is crucial in order to avoid the annoyance of a yeast infection, but that can be tough if you're a sexually active person. Natural lubrication that your body makes isn't going to affect your lady business, but if you use a personal lubricant that contains glycerin, for many women, that's a yeast infection waiting to happen, so make sure your lube is glycerin-free! Also, if you don't use condoms and your man does his business inside of you, make sure to use the bathroom after sex to help release some of the semen.

There's something else to think about when it comes to sex and yeast infections so read more.

Hormonal birth control can cause yeast infections for some women, so if you're prone, try Monophasic birth control, where the same dosage is delivered daily, which can help curb an infection. If that doesn't work, you may benefit from experimenting with other forms of BC until you find the right one for your body. Another thing to note is that pregnancy can cause a yeast infection. Now I'm not saying having an infection means you're preggers, but it could be one of the early signs.

Dear Poll: Do You Believe Pregnancy Can Be an Accident?

I've been hearing about many accidental pregnancies lately - newlyweds saying their bun in the oven was a surprise or new parents claiming their second pregnancy was a fluke. But part of me thinks that's an excuse so people won't judge them for conceiving so soon into their marriage or after giving birth. In this day and age when there are so many birth control options available, it seems close to impossible to have an accidental pregnancy if you're using them correctly. Of course there's always the chance of getting preggers if you're irresponsible about taking the pill or if your condom breaks, so ladies, what I want to know is, do you believe the accidental pregnancy excuse?
