It may be wedding season at Sugar, but elsewhere circumstance and desperation still send women down the aisle . . . or to the docks. In like, say, Somalia!

In an interview today on CNN's American Morning, TJ Holmes found that Somali women are flocking to the port town of Bosaso in hopes of marrying a pirate. Arghh. I'm going to assume these pirates are more like the men pictured above and less Johnny Depp in Pirates of the Caribbean. So what's the appeal? Well, money - pirates have it.

In fact, women want to marry pirates for the same reasons men become them: they want to escape the hopelessness, poverty, lawlessness, and civil war that pervade the streets of Somalia. Can you blame them?

A new Internet video uses powerful imagery to inspire the millennial generation to vote. "Citizen's Cry" brings viewers 80 years into a bleak-looking future, in an attempt to emphasize to America's youth what could happen if they stay home this election. "Citizen's Cry," directed by Corey Rosen, who's worked on Star Wars and Pirates of the Caribbean, hopes young people will realize that their silence could be heard far into the future.

The video claims to be bipartisan, but it definitely suggests that having the wrong leaders in power will lead to the downfall of America. The viewer is left to decide which leaders will usher in hard times for later generations, and which can save them. Do you think the message of urgency will inspire youth, or does it fall flat by trying too hard?

Cable Company Goes For Commercial Gold

A rapping salesman is always a telltale sign of a low-budget commercial, but there's no way in paradise this ad kept the costs down. Any company that books the Pirates of the Caribbean for their commercial, along with a singing sea monster and a bunch of beached mermaids, ain't safeguarding the piggy bank. It all paid off in the end cuz this is the best low-budget-looking-but-high-budget-costing ad that arrrr've ever seen. (Thanks, Jezebel!)
