Pearl's Final Performance Before Retirement

You probably remember little Pearl from her winning performance in the Will Ferrell short "The Landlord." Well, the good news is Pearl's back on screen in "Good Cop, Baby Cop," kicking ass and taking names. The bad news? This is Pearl's farewell performance!

According to the press release (thanks to PopCandy for posting this!), Pearl has issued the following statement:

“My ventures as an actor on the internet have been rewarding and spiritually fulfilling, but now I must look to broader challenges as I approach my 26th month,” says Pearl. “I shall always reflect upon these days with much fondness, and also, I have no idea what I just said, and I want banana-nana and the upside down show.”

In the short film, Pearl plays a ruthless cop known as "The Confession Machine," who brutally interrogates Will Ferrell's character. There is some strong language, so you may want to don some headphones. To watch the adorable - yet terrifying! - little star in her final performance,

Jamie Foxx may be a ladies man, but by the looks of it he's also a tech man too! Here he is, heading to his 'Unpredictable' after-party in Toronto this past weekend. With that big jacket, you'd think he'd have a pocket to put some of those toys in. Whatever happened to personal assistants? These days it seems as though celebs like to keep their BlackBerry's as close to them as possible! He at least has the Blackberry 8700 and the Pearl- how many phones does a man need?

Inspired by Butoh, designer Doo-Ri Chung sent the models - sporting sleek buns and leather headbands - down the runway in a gorgeous array of her draped dresses dipped in pretty hues of dark teal, blush, pearl white, and gray. For a polished touch, Doo-Ri Chung introduced wide-leg trousers, tailored wool coats complete with leather inserts, and an eye-catching array of mixed-knit wraps. How to Throw a The Artist-Themed Oscar Viewing Party

The Oscars air on Sunday, Feb 26, and any movie lover already has the date penciled in. In case your plans are even grander than simply watching the show and you want to throw a viewing party for friends, then why not pick a theme based around one of the best picture nominees? I'm suggesting The Artist as inspiration, the delightful silent film that's been creating a deafening award season buzz. Here's how to pull it off.

How to decorate: All your decorations should be black and white, with art deco accents. Play The Artist movie soundtrack or big band music while guests are arriving. And if you know anyone who owns a Jack Russell Terrier, borrow him and pretend he's Uggie.
How to dress: In glam 1920s Old Hollywood garb. Think tuxes for men, and flapper dresses or diaphanous gowns and long pearls for women.
What to serve: Lots of champagne, of course, along with Manhattans and Sidecars, cocktails popular in the '20s.
How to act: Ask everyone to be as silent as possible, but expressive with their face and hands. It sounds crazy, but at least you won't have to shush anyone when the show starts.

How to Select the Perfect Oyster Assortment

It's well-known lore that oysters can really titillate the palate (among other things), so I consulted Parke Ulrich, executive chef at Waterbar Restaurant in San Francisco, for tips on crafting the perfect oyster plate at home. Constructing a carefully curated selection of oysters is a bit of an art, much like creating a cheese plate. According to Chef Ulrich, oysters "have a great sense of place. They may be the same species but taste different depending on where they are actually grown." Since selecting an assortment of oysters can be intimidating (after all, various oysters get their flavors from tidal changes, minerality, water temperature, and other factors!), I asked Ulrich for a few pointers.

Map out your choices. Oyster characteristics - liquidy, chewy, briny, earthy - often depend upon the oyster's origin. For example, "Tomales Bays [oysters native to the San Francisco Bay Area] are briny and sweet because they are influenced by the cold water and fresh water in this area," Ulrich points out. To represent this pearl of the sea's vast variety of flavors, choose a geographically diverse assortment. Not only will you create a satisfying plate, but you'll have fun guessing each oyster's home!
Span the flavor spectrum. Briny oysters tend to be "cleaner tasting and have less of an aftertaste," Ulrich explains. The more earthy and complex the oyster, the more it lingers on your palate, an attribute that's better for the more advanced oyster eater. At your local market, keep an eye out for Ulrich's faves - Preston Points (from Tomales Bay in Northern California), Nootka Sounds (from British Columbia), and Wellfleet (from Cape Cod) - and opt for more obscure varieties that you're not apt to find at other restaurants.

Just in time for the most romantic holiday of the year, Nintendo announced the pearl pink 3DS hitting shelves on Feb. 10 for $170. If you've got a sweetheart with a gaming addiction, the 3DS provides the fun of the well-known DS gaming system with the extra added bonus of glasses-less 3D. Since amazing 3D games seem to be a little hard to come by, you might consider buying Super Mario 3D Land ($40) to go along with it.
