Just when you thought you were done envying Paris Hilton's jet-setting, getting-paid-to-party ways, wait until you see how her pooches Tinkerbell, Marilyn Monroe, Prince Baby Bear, Harajuku, Dolce, and Prada live. Life & Style was invited to see their mini-mansion in Beverly Hills. (Yes, they have their own home.) It's a two-story affair complete with air conditioning, closets, and a crystal chandelier. Cost? Oh, just $325,000. (Hear that sound? It's my palm smacking my forehead in disbelief.)

The Results Are In: The Worst Movie of 2008

Oh, Paris Hilton: What would we do without you on Giggle? The readers have voted, and your big movie project this year also happens to be our worst movie of 2008. That would be The Hottie and the Nottie, which has a tagline that incorporates your personal catchphrase: "That's Hot."

Hottie was a clear first-place winner with 43 percent of the votes, but Mike Myers's The Love Guru also had a (dis)respectable showing.

Favorite Campaign Ad of 2008: Paris Hilton For President

Paris Hilton never had a chance of winning the US Presidency, but she did prevail as the candidate behind CitizenSugar readers' favorite campaign ad of 2008.

Not quite a mandate, Paris' announcement of her faux-candidacy, which came as a response to John McCain's Celebrity ad, received 32 percent of the vote. Barack Obama's 30-minute infomercial came in second with 28 percent.

While this could mean a bright political future lies ahead for Paris, I suspect it says something about everyone's distaste for the typical campaign ads that invaded our living rooms and computer screens for much of 2008! I mean, she's consulting with faux West Wing president Martin "Josiah Bartlet" Sheen about her "pre-party for a party she's throwing before the after-party," and she already has a nickname for foreign policy - "fo po." Be afraid, people! Be very, very afraid.

Are We There Yet? Long Campaign Devolves Into Party Favors?

It seems impossible to remember a time BC: Before Campaign. That may be because we've been at this game seriously since 2006. By the time the US votes, it will be a vote two years in the making (at that rate, isn't it time to start the 2012 campaign?) Perhaps because of this stretched out schedule, the capacity for substantive debate has been also stretched - to the snapping point.

Whether a function of the campaigns themselves running out of ways (gimmicks?) to keep themselves in the public eye for an interminable amount of time, the media's fatigue with covering yet another town hall in yet another town, or the public's appetite for newer, better, flashier, the campaign we're seeing now, well it's a little stinky.

Case in point: the Obama Energy Plan tire gauge. I admit, I saw it and winced. Because now that we've seen it all, every move, especially during these lazy days of summer, is heightened in import to a major event - and when McCain is actually out there and talking about his plan in a more conventional way.

Now, the gauge itself, kind of funny. Obama did say we should inflate our tires. The doohickey just takes a statement and gives it legs in a party favor format. And I don't doubt it was meant as a joke - McCain is famous for them, like when Obama was on his big trip abroad, and the McCain team handed out gag press credentials to the domestic-bound crew traveling with him that read "JV Squad: Left Behind to Report in America." I mean just using the word "JV" in an adult setting is inherently funny - but what does it say about the discourse? Here's the rub: even though stunts like this and the celebrity-filled ad get picked up and talked about, I question whether they might do more harm than good. McCain has an energy plan, the Lexington Project, and it's not too shabby. Obama's got one too and there are substantive comparisons out there, in addition to the candidates' own websites that spell out their entire energy policies. I have faith that there is room for levity and gravitas in the campaign, but given the duration of constant scrutiny, one tire gauge can be spun as the sum total of a plan when that's far from the truth.

Do stories like the tire gauge and the celeb ad make the campaign lighter than air - or simply lighten the mood?

Celeb-Gate 2008: Someone Else Pulled the Paris-Punch First!

OK. I promise I'm about to get with the program and Move On (without the .org, thanks all the same) but I could not let this slip by: John McCain was not the first one to compare Barack Obama to Paris Hilton. (!!!) Especially since Liberty and I went head-to-head on the celebrity issue, this PS-revelation is too good.

Kathy Hilton also came out with an albeit brief retort about the McCain ad, calling it, "a complete waste of the money John McCain's contributors have donated to his campaign." Well, maybe - but at least the campaign didn't spend money coming up with the idea - that was handed right to them.

Andy Warhol said we all get our 15 minutes of fame. I've already had an hour and a half. I mean, I'm so overexposed, I'm making Paris Hilton look like a recluse.

Barack Obama himself coined the Barack-as-Paris comparison in 2005. I thought it sounded familiar. He added after the Paris quote, "I figure there's nowhere to go from here but down. So tonight, I announce my retirement from the United States Senate."

While that retirement may be coming in January, I just wanted to add this piece of political theory: "You, all right? I learned it by watching you!"

Did This Ad Do Anything to Cement Obama as a "Celebrity?"

A representative for Britney Spears may have been speaking for the world when he gave his reaction to the McCain ad featuring Brit for a split-second saying, "Why would we want to get Britney Spears involved in presidential politics?" Wise words perhaps.

Featuring shots of Paris Hilton as well as Britney, the ad is generating a meta-buzz - not about the message really, but the ad itself. To me the most interesting thing to come out of the ad is not the comparison, but that the Hiltons have given $4,600 to McCain, and they're testy about the ad - and perhaps the choice of celebs: haven't Britney and Paris been celebs for longer than Barack? Maybe they should have picked someone from High School Musical?
