Where Would You Instate a Kissing Ban?

Last week a British train station placed a ban on kissing in an effort to ease congestion. Spokespeople for the Warrington Bank Quay station claim that since the drop-off area is so small, the main purpose of this kissing ban is to speed up the travel process, but other stations feel differently since train stations are often considered romantic places where fond farewells take place.

You've mentioned before that a little PDA goes a long way, and I agree. If you had the opportunity to instate a ban similar to this one, what public area would you designate a make-out-free zone?

Dear Poll: Does PDA Make You Uncomfortable?

Even if you think PDA is a good idea, there's a time and a place for it. When you're the touchy-feely couple in question, chances are you're too smitten to even notice, but you could indeed be offending those around you. I, for one, am totally OK with witnessing a couple embrace or share a passionate kiss, but anything beyond that just makes me uncomfortable; like I shouldn't be looking! Sure, I could just turn away, but sometimes there's no where to run! I have a feeling we've all been there so how do you feel about PDA? Are you usually guilty of this crime, or does it make you feel awkward, too?

Dear Poll: Do You Feed Each Other?

No, I’m not referring to buying each other meals, I mean literally taking a bite of food and placing it in the other person's mouth. This could just be a symptom of young couples in love, but every time I go out lately, I see a couple in the midst of feeding each other and I have to look away. There's something about it that makes me uncomfortable; perhaps because it often seems more intimate PDA than making out. Sure, I might give a significant other a nibble of something if his hands were full, but never in public! Obviously I’m not a fan of couples feeding, so ladies, how about you?

Second Base? Lesbian PDA at Ballgame Causes Controversy

An usher at a Seattle Mariners baseball game asked a lesbian couple to stop kissing because it was making another fan uncomfortable. I didn't know ushers were PDA police!

A woman in the audience asked the stadium official to interrupt the romance because there were kids at the game. The Mariners responded to the controversy, stating the usher intervened on account of the team's no-groping, no-making out rule, not because of their sexual orientation. The team's spokeswoman maintained that the couple was told they could continue to kiss, but they had to tone it down.

But the women deny they were getting touchy feely, saying that they just gave each other brief kisses while enjoying garlic fries. The garlic fry detail sort of makes their not-making out story more believable.

If there is a double standard, I'm not sure where it applies. Would a spectator complain, and an usher interrupt, if the pair was not gay? Does political correctness dictate that these women be allowed to violate the stadium's code of conduct otherwise applied to straight couples? Why are public displays of affection (gay or straight) inappropriate for a family environment?

A friend invites you out with her boyfriend because she misses you. Even though you hate to be a third wheel, you agree to go because you’re trying to be a good friend. At first things are fine, but as the night wears on, your friend and her man keep getting more and more physical. If he's not brushing his fingers over her neck and chest, then she's running her hands through his hair.

The excessive PDA is getting old, and you go the bathroom to get it away from it for a while. You’re sure it can’t get much worse, but when you get back to the table, they’re fully groping each other and making out. You're totally grossed out, but you feel uncomfortable interrupting them, so how do you handle this?

Do Tell: Are You Affectionate in Front of the Family?

No matter how old I get, I’m old-fashioned when it comes to PDA in front of my parents. When I’m with the family, any excessive touching becomes unnecessary and kissing is kept brief and subtle. I’m not actually sure if this is something that my parents notice, but I guess it’s just my own thing. However, I realize not everyone’s quite as traditional as me. Do tell: Are you like me when it comes to family-time PDA? Or do you have no qualms about a little affection when your parents are around?

Where Do You Stand? Public Displays of Affection

When you're in a relationship, some people like to express their love no matter where they are or what they are doing. They need to hug, kiss and touch their partner, and they don't care who sees them doing it.

Some people, on the other hand, feel like it's inappropriate to be touchy-feely in front of others. It makes them feel uncomfortable to kiss in public, and they feel like other people don't need (or want) to see it either. They save their love fests for the privacy of their own homes.

So where do you stand on public displays of affection? Are you into it, or do you feel like it's something you should do in private?
