There are many awesome retro Christmas songs. Bowie singing with Bing Crosby. Johnny Cash singing with June Carter. The Peanuts gang telling us what the true meaning of Christmas is. But there's only one New Year's song, in my book. That's right, it's the four blondes from Sweden singing "Happy New Year." Here they are pronouncing "champagne" with a cute accent, wearing blindingly shiny lip gloss, and musing on what it will be like in ten years - or 1989! Ahhh, good times.

If you love to make New Year's Resolutions at the beginning of each year, why not make them seem more real and permanent by writing them down? Some people get bummed out if they're single on New Year's Eve and have no one to kiss at midnight. But this holiday is about way more than who you lock lips with when the ball drops. For some tips on how to enjoy New Year's as a single and fabulous woman, click here to read more.

New Year's is all about getting dressed up and celebrating the end of the year with the people you love, so try not to get too fixated on what you'll do come midnight.
If you're single, make plans with other single friends so you don't feel like the odd woman out.
I'm sure you will have a plethora of parties to choose from come Dec. 31, so go to the one where most of your friends will be.
As soon as the countdown starts, make sure to be surrounded by your friends. The best part about going to a big party is being able to celebrate with everyone, so hug and kiss all of your friends when the clock strikes midnight.
If you get lucky, or just tired, be sure to tell you're friends if you leave the party so someone knows where you are.

I hope these tips help you this New Year's. For the record, I have had my best New Year's Eves when I was single, just dancing and having fun, so I recommend doing the same! Be safe, don't drink and drive, and Happy New Year!

DearSugar and Don't Want to Be a Jerk Jenny need your help. She has plans for New Year's Eve with a friend. Is it OK for her to ditch her friend and go out with a guy she has a crush on instead?

Dear Sugar,

My best friend and her husband are throwing a fabulous New Year's Eve party, and I was so psyched to go. I bought this hot little black dress to wear, but I'm having an issue. You see, this guy I'm strictly friends with asked me to go and I said yes. Then the following day, this guy from work I've had a huge crush on invited me to a holiday party at a fancy restaurant.

So I know that I've already made plans, but I really want to break them and see where the night takes me with my crush. We've been flirting for weeks and I really like this guy. Is it wrong to break the plans I had with my friend? What should I do?
