Whether you find this mildly amusing, deeply satisfying, or appalling (because it's mean to enjoy others' pain) - you know you wanna watch! Here's something nice: her recovery was flawless and oddly, she claps afterward. And with Jerry Springer MCing this thing, it could've been worse. A fight could've broken out on stage involving an angry, toothless man dressed as a woman wielding a chair. Just saying . . . (Thanks, eBaum's World!)

WTF: NBC's Miss USA Ad

If NBC's ad for Miss USA is any indication, folks are dispensing with the whole "beauty pageants are an opportunity for young women to win scholarships/this is a talent competition" pretense. What's shocking is that instead of being honest, and saying, okay, it's. . .a beauty pageant which judges women on superficial qualities, NBC is taking an extreme position. Miss USA, they seem to be saying, is a great opportunity for the viewer to watch women make fools of themselves. Sheesh! I'm not a fan of beauty pageants, but this is just piggish.

Miss USA Falls On Butt During Miss Universe Competition

Everyone knows the only reason to watch these dumb shows is for some good old fashioned slapstick. I love how, after Miss USA falls flat on her butt, she looks at the camera and does a cheesy wink. Uh, we haven't quite forgotten what just happened, lady! But nice try...

Miss California USA Dethroned: Do We Care?

Carrie Prejean is no longer Miss California USA. A state pageant official said she was dethroned for “contract violations” like missing scheduled pageant events. Prejean narrowly escaped being dethroned last month when topless photos surfaced of the beauty queen. She also didn’t do herself any favors with her statements about same-sex marriage.

"Carrie is a beautiful young woman,” Donald Trump said, despite canning her, “and I wish her well as she pursues her other interests.”

With all that’s going on in the world, do we care about beauty pageant winners or their dethronings?

Say What? Carrie Prejean on Same-Sex and Opposite Marriages

"I think it's great that Americans are able to choose one or the other. We live in a land that you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite marriage . . . I think that I believe that marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anybody out there . . ."

-Miss California at the Miss USA 2009 competition, when asked by a judge whether or not she believes every state should follow Vermont's suit as the fourth state to legalize same-sex marriage. Trump And Miss USA Sittin' In A Tree...

...K-I-S-S-I-N-G. Not really. But they made an appearance together at a press conference to try to explain away all of Tara's crowning achievements in the areas of drug, alcohol, and partying abuse since taking the throne. With verbal vomit flowing and a smile plastered on her face, Tara reminds us why she won the title in the first place- she can bullsh*t with the best of them. So VH1 "remastered" the footage a bit and, despite the retina damaging glow from Tara's overly whitened teeth, it's well worth your attention.

Would You Read Former Miss California's Book?

Former Miss California Carrie Prejean has landed a book deal with Regnery, the "leading conservative publisher in America." The title? Still Standing, which I can only assume is inspired by gay-married Sir Elton John's song "I'm Still Standing."

Carrie caused controversy earlier this year when she publicly denounced same-sex marriage in favor of opposite marriage during the Miss USA pageant. She was later dethroned for being unwilling to fulfill "contractual obligations." Here's another contractual obligation she now has: her book will be published in November. That gives her about, oh, six weeks to write it.

Donald Trump Lets Miss California Keep Her Crown

Stop the presses! Carrie Prejean will remain Miss California!

With the all the TV cameras pointing at him during a press conference today, Donald Trump announced that controversial Miss California will keep her crown.

Prejean's explanation that she is opposed to gay marriage, said Trump, was "honorable" and "honest," and he pointed out that President Obama gave the same answer. Bringing Obama into this is sure to give the story more time in the press (if that's possible). As for Prejean's topless photos, Trump determined that the pictures are fine, considering the Miss USA pageant is a "modern" pageant.

Prejean spoke for herself too. She was just giving her respectful opinion, she claimed, based on her upbringing, that marriage should be between a man and a woman. She argued that the attacks against her for exercising her freedom of speech undermined her constitutional rights. (Wait - don't the attacks count as free speech too?)

The still-crowned Miss California explained that she wasn't the most outspoken proponent of traditional marriage, but thanks to the media storm, she's become the most visible. Judging by the panel of experts that preceded and followed the press conference on cable TV and the crowd of reporters in attendance, it seems she's correct.
