Olympic swimming champ Michael Phelps dove into some hot water when he was photographed taking a bong hit, but that has not kept the 14-Olympic gold medal winning Adonis from keeping some lucrative endorsement deals, including some new Subway sandwich ads opposite Jared, the usual spokesperson.
But enough about the nonessential. Is this buff swimmer (who sometimes looks — to me—either totally hot, kinda douchey, or a tad dorky) a do, dump or marry?

Eight people, most of whom had the unfortunate privilege of partying with Olympic great Michael Phelps, have been arrested in Richland County, SC. Seven have been charged with drug possession and one with distribution. The party where the illegal activity went down happened way back in November.

President-elect Barack Obama has topped Barbara Walters's list of the Most Fascinating People of 2008. The ABC special aired last night, and last year the honor of Most Fascinating Person went to Harry Potter author JK Rowling. While many people probably agree that Obama is the most fascinating figure of the year, it's somewhat surprising that his opponent John McCain did not make the list.

Back-to-school for New York school children will require stepping on the scale. A law going into effect this month will require NYC schools to report student weight and body mass indexes. The anonymous data will be kept by the state's Department of Health, unless parents opt out.

Poor Steve Parry of Great Britain. He won a bronze medal in swimming at the 2004 Olympics, but no one paid him much attention until he walked outside carrying a cardboard cutout of Michael Phelps.

- Gold and Gold for US:
US Gymnasts Nastia Liukin and Shawn Johnson won gold and silver in the women's all-around competition. Liukin held back tears until she was atop the winner's podium and the national anthem played. She said, "standing on the podium and hearing `Olympic champion' next to my name was a dream come true."

- Phelps Breaks Gold Record:
US swimmer Michael Phelps has broken the record for most Olympic gold won by scoring his 10th and 11th in a double victory in races today. A win in the 200m butterfly gave him his 4th gold for these Olympics, keeping him on track to take home eight golds for these games. The most golds ever won prior to Phelps was nine.
