Improv Everywhere is known for busting out comedic performances in unlikely locations, so they staged a musical - in a shopping mall food court. It all started with the Hot Dog on a Stick girl crying over spilled lemonade and ended with the whole food court triumphantly singing about napkin shortage. Hungry patrons, clueless that the joke was on them, didn't know whether to laugh or cry. If you ask me, all they had to do was buy a corn dog from the crying chick and tell her to shove it. But that would have made this a lot less funny.

The mall is almost unavoidable during the holidays, and something about all that running around and waiting in lines makes me hungry. What's worse: Not only am I hungry, but I also know there is a place where food is easily accessible. That place, like the fast food holy land, is the Food Court.

Don't worry, we can get through this.

My first idea is to stick to places where you can actually eat healthy. Deli-type places (Au Bon Pain, Subway, etc.) that don't even have a deep fryer are good options - in other words, places where you can't get french fries and onion rings. Places such as Cinnabon, where it's gooey cinnamon roles or nothing, are out.

Au Bon Pain is a favorite of mine but watch out for cheeses, mayonnaise, and any other special sauces they throw on a sandwich and opt for mustard instead. A great option is the Tuna Nicoise Salad, with 270 calories and 12 grams of fat; get the dressing on the side to lower those numbers even more. People tend to think Chinese food is healthy, but that is not always the case - go steamed or not at all. A good option at Panda Express is the Mushroom Chicken with a side of mixed veggies, all for about 220 calories and 15 grams of fat.

Favorite Excuse for Not Working Out: It's TOO Hot!

Summer is here and man is it hot out! The heat can dehydrate your body and drain your energy. This combined with feeling uncomfortably sticky and sweaty can make you want to skip the workout and head for your air-conditioned living room.

There are plenty of things you can do to work your body without overheating. Here are some ideas:

Swim! If you hit the pool for 30 minutes, you can burn up to 270 calories.
Take up a water sport like kayaking or water skiing. It works your upper body and if you get hot, you can just jump in.
Take a bike ride. When the wind's blowing through your hair and over your body, it feels cooler than if you were going for a run.
Don't do as much. If you are used to playing tennis for an hour, cut it down to 30 minutes or less.
Workout in an air-conditioned gym.
Keep ice water close by while you work out and drink as often as you feel you need to. If you are doing high intensity cardio, try to sip small amounts - drinking too much could give you a bellyache.
Walk the mall. That's right. It's not hot in there so you can walk back and forth staying cool and totally entertained (don't you just love people watching and window shopping?).

Meryl Streep Inspires Herself in Golden Globe Press Room

Meryl Streep stepped into the Golden Globes press room following her big win for The Iron Lady during this evening's show. On stage she couldn't give the speech she had planned since she forgot her glasses at the table, and while she almost gave it to the press room instead, she refrained. Instead, Meryl talked about women who inspire her, taking on the role of Margaret Thatcher, and what she's working on now. Check it out:

On what she would ask Margaret Thatcher: I would be interested in what she thinks about Europe right now and the debt crisis and whether her views about any of that have evolved. It's interesting how it's coming to the same path. It interests me.

On taking on the role: Coming into this I had a very reductive view of Margret Thatcher. I did what we all do to political leaders we don’t agree with, turning them into something more than human and less than human at the same time. It was interesting to me to look at the human being behind all that, to look at the life that was so groundbreaking, in the winter of that life. To find a compassionate view of someone with whom I disagree.

On what inspires her: I’ve never really gotten to the bottom of me and all the contradictions and conundrum that I find in my own personality and I feel like I find myself, or parts of myself, and I find some understanding of being alive from the characters I play. I’ve probably only gravitated towards characters I do feel something of me in.

What is your passion project right now: I’m very interested in the stories of women, the untold stories, and I’m trying very hard to get congress to let us purchase land on the National Mall for the first women's museum. There are so many stories, I could go on for hours.
