Those viral marketing campaigns are getting more and more creative. Skype, a free video-call service, schemed up a way to get people to engage with their product, pay a giggle forward, and put the laughter-is-contagious theory to the test. It's called the laughter chain. The chain begins with a baby giggling, then jumps to a dude LOLing while watching an online vid of the baby giggling then moves to an older man chuckling (the best chuckle ever!) while watching the dude LOL, and so on. Is HSN still selling junk or has the network turned into an open therapy sesh? In this segment, someone calls into the show to ask the host not to have an on-air meltdown. Oh, and the caller wants to ask about a product that was featured ten years ago. This call goes on and on until the host loses all composure and pretty much pleads insanity. So, what were we selling again?

Do You Ever Wake Up Laughing or Crying?

Dreams can be so bizarre and seem so real. There have been times when I've dreamt about something horrible happening in my life, like being lost or someone passing away. In my dream I'm crying, but then I start crying for real, and my sobbing actually wakes me up. It's such a strange feeling to wake up so sad and scared, but such a relief to realize that it wasn't real.

I've also had dreams where something funny happens, and I wake up laughing hysterically. It's almost as good as having an orgasm in your sleep.

So what about you? Have you ever woken yourself up laughing or crying?

A baby laughing is cute, a Yogi laughing is disturbingly entertaining, but the sound of the following woman laughing is something straight outta Nightmare on Torture Street. Consider yourselves warned. (And here's a challenge. The video is a whopping 6 minutes and 40 seconds long. I'd otherwise edit this, but I want to know how long you can sit through it without scratching your eardrums out. I lasted a mere 1:44.)

I'm jealous! If only tearing up bits of newspaper had this effect on me. Watch this hard-headed cutie get a giggle out of ripping the newspaper to shreds. I guess if I banged my head upside hard, inanimate objects as often as he does, I'd find this kind of distraction equally as thrilling. Perhaps I'll give it a try.
