Julie and Ty Show Off Their New Gold in the Emmys Press Room With Kate, Guy, and More

Last night's Emmy Awards show took place at LA's Nokia Theater, with Modern Family leading the pack by garnering five wins during the telecast alone! Ty Burrell and Julie Bowen received accolades for their individual performances, and they took their newly acquired gold into the press room. More stars who were honored for their work answered questions from reporters, including Mildred Pierce's Kate Winslet and Guy Pearce, The Good Wife's Julianna Marguiles, and Mike and Molly's Melissa McCarthy. Series winners Mad Men and Modern Family had their whole casts up on the podium to chat about their wins. Actors from the AMC show admitted to missing new mom January Jones, who skipped the big night, since she just welcomed son Xander a few days ago. Show creator Matthew Weiner said, "She's home with her baby, John Slattery says. Her baby had his fingers crossed, she told me that. And she said it was really weird that we were going to be here without her, and we miss her terribly."

Jon Stewart Compares Obama to Social Conservatives When It Comes to Gay Marriage

Fledgling Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum has been using bizarre analogies to explain his opposition to gay marriage. At a recent campaign event Santorum said, "I can call this napkin a paper towel, but it is a napkin. Why? Because it is what it is. Right?" Jon Stewart did his best to explain Santorum's logic, saying he's making a slippery slope argument: "If people start using paper towels as napkins, what's next? Sleeves?! Drapes?!" But it's not just well-known anti-gay marriage politicians "defending" marriage. Jon points out that while the Obama administration calls the Defense of Marriage Act "indefensible," Obama's still enforcing it with sometimes cruel results. Watch the clip to see for yourself.

Jon Stewart: Michele Bachmann's Husband Is an Izod Shirt Away From the Gay Character on Modern Family

Jon Stewart went there last night, calling out Michele Bachmann's husband, Marcus Bachmann, for setting off some people's gaydar. Like his presidential candidate wife, who has made controversial statements about gay people, Christian therapist Marcus thinks being gay can be cured and has been accused of practicing "pray the gay away" therapy. But after consulting clips of Marcus dancing and speaking with an arguably effeminate voice, Jon wondered if Marcus was "curing them so he can hoard all the gayness for himself." According to Jon, Marcus is an "Izod shirt away from being the gay character on Modern Family."

Jon knows it's probably unfair to hint at Marcus's hypocritical homosexuality with no more evidence than the presence of gay stereotypes, but he can't seem to help himself. Later in the program he brings out Jerry Seinfeld to help "cure" him of his gay jokes. Cash Warren had his last holiday as a dad of one at a California park with Jessica Alba and Honor, and Hugh Jackman played photographer to capture daughter Ava splashing around in NYC. George Clooney wore a fake nose and giant ear to join funny guys like Jon Stewart and Zach Galifianakis in LA last night to answer phones and collect more than $3 million during Comedy Central's Night of Too Many Stars: An Overbooked Concert For Autism Education. Jon was there live after playing host three weeks ago, when he and friends like Tina Fey, Jimmy Fallon, and Ricky Gervais recorded the actual special at NYC's Beacon Theater. Zach was able to attend during a break from shooting The Hangover 2, which will no longer feature a cameo from Mel Gibson and instead will have a special appearance from Liam Neeson. George's latest philanthropic gesture follows his goodwill trip to Sudan and last week's meeting with President Obama. He was also front and center for January's Hope for Haiti Now telethon, which raised more than $57 million.
