For any of you who read John Krakauer's biography on Christopher McCandless, Into the Wild, or watched Sean Penn's moving film about his life, you know that McCandless was a restless and troubled kid who gave everything away after he graduated from Emory University and went to Alaska to rough it a bit and live out his nature fantasy. Sadly, he ended up dying of starvation in the abandoned bus he called home. Okay, it's a bummer of a story, but the following video imagines how things might have turned out differently if Matthew McConaughey (who doesn't seem to own a shirt anywhere except in this dramatization) had been in the wilderness with him. Let's just say that brah harshes Chris's mellow.

Little Girl Gone Wild - Hilarious or Horrifying?

Darla isn't in school yet, but she's already in training for Spring Break. UPDATE: Though the video has been removed, here's the gist: Her mother - who clearly has a sharp, if somewhat twisted, wit - has trained the toddler to lift up her shirt when mom says "Spring Break." I think it's pretty funny, because it seems unlikely that any mother this edgy could actually raise a future Girl Gone Wild. What do you think?

Cheetahs, and Tigers, and Crows, Oh My!

When a wild animal is discovered running loose on the streets, peeps go batsh*t. The animal, on the other hand, remains as calm as can be. The following surveillance footage shows what happens when unsuspecting pedestrians have surprise encounters with animals typically found in the wild. Their reactions, although totally warranted, are hilarious. Most of them make a run for it. Meanwhile, a tiger with a Frisbee in his mouth is left wondering where the hell he can find a bottle of agua up in this liquor store . . .

The Wild Turkey Whisperer

Joe Hutto has raised countless wild turkeys from the time they were eggs. He talks turkey--and that's no figure of speech. Having spent so much time with them, he's learned their language, and can mimic sounds they make to get them to come to him so he can, um, kill them and eat them for dinner. (This is a Thanksgiving post, you know).

Sample turkey talk: "Wow look at those berries! Ewww...nevermind. Those berries suck!" I kid you not. I learned about this from a New Yorker podcast. So how does wild turkey taste compared to its domestic brethren? "It tastes more like turkey," Hutto explains. "Longer in flavor. More complex." Well, I don't know about you, but wild turkey, regular turkey, or Tofurkey--I'm going to enjoy my Thanksgiving dinner! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Man Vs. Wild: New York

"Man Vs. Wild" may be a difficult show to watch, but at least it's got a hot host. The premise? The hottie puts himself in harsh environments while equipped with nothing but the shirt on his back (and a professional camera crew) for survival. Only the most extreme tactics can save him. From drinking his own urine to decapitating and eating a snake with his own teeth, this hottie does it all. The question is: could our nature boy survive New York City? It's a jungle out there! Watch the following parody and see.

Product of the Day: Wild Swan Strap-On Toy

The inflatable Wild Swan After Party favor, according to my friends Kosuke and Yuichi who were kind enough to translate the packaging for me, is suitable for ages 12 and up. We all agreed that this was ludicrous, given the uh, suggestive features of this dirty toy. First of all, it becomes engorged when a cylindrical capsule inside the flaccid cartoon swan is squeezed. Second of all, you affix it to your crotch. As you can see from the packaging, this is supposed to appeal to an audience of dirty old drunk men and....ballerinas. Uh huh. Right. My colleague Yum found it at Daiso in Serramonte, a store that otherwise sells normal Japanese goods. Highly recommended if you'd like to see what a "party ON your pants" looks like.

Director, skateboarder and all-around Gen X superhero Spike Jonze was told that turning the beloved children's book Where the Wild Things Are into a movie couldn't be done without serious artistic compromises. Well, not only did he prove his naysayers wrong, his movie was number one at the box office over the weekend!

This iconoclast has been doing his own thing for a while, though, starting out as an untrained videographer for skateboarders, moving on to direct cool videos for bands like The Beastie Boys, and following up on Being John Malkovich and Adaptation with a filmic ballad for the latch-key generation.

So boyish is this 39-year-old, Catherine Keener's son once asked him why he didn't live with his parents. What do you think about this talented guy?

- Maurice Sendak, author of the classic children's book-turned-movie Where the Wild Things Are, when asked "What do you say to parents who think the Wild Things film may be too scary?" I guess this is artistic integrity, but it's kind of a valid question, no? Unless it's simply not a children's movie . . .
