Forget Dinner: A Dating Website Just For Quickies

Forget Dinner is a website that caters to people in sexless marriages. The casual dating site is particularly popular in the UK and boasts the tag line: "Forget dinner and go straight to bed!" Subtle!

While many people use online dating (and dating in general) just to get laid, Forget Dinner removes any confusion. The site explains: "Forget Dinner allows people to be direct and honest about what they want without having to waste time, money, and effort sifting through the many thousands of singles who want a partner for life." Almost all the users are married, and the site has a 10-to-1 ratio of men to women. Some users say that they want to avoid long-term affairs that could get messy, so instead they look for no-strings-attached sex to make up for what they're evidently not getting at home.

There's a trend among dating sites to declare people's motives right from the start. We have the site 7 or Better for people looking for well-endowed men, and there's even a Sugar Daddies site. Basically, there's a dating destination for everyone. What do you think about a concept like Forget Dinner?

Tweet! I Just Got Laid!

A new survey reveals that 36 percent of people under 35 admit to updating their status on Twitter or Facebook right after they have sex. I guess it was just a matter of time before the postcoital tweet replaced cancer-causing cigarettes. Hot.

Tellingly, men were twice more likely than women to use social media after sex, and only 8 percent of people over 35 admitted to doing so.

While we don't know what exactly people are sharing with the world after they get laid, it's highly likely that they have sex on their mind and on their profiles. Last week most of you seemed grossed out by IJustMadeLove.com, a website that lets you pinpoint the exact location where you've had sex. But judging by this latest survey, the creators of that site are probably on to something - mixing intimacy with social networking really turns people on!

Cats Respond to "A Day Without Cats"

Humor website Urlesque unilaterally declared today A Day Without Cats on the Internet. The “feline overlords,” as they described them, are kinda playing nice. They’ve agreed to lay low, courtesy of Stuff on My Cat. But they don’t like it one bit.

Bad For Women? Online Name-Calling and Lawsuits

This is one of the most childish stories I've read in a while.

Rosemary Port, who used to blog anonymously for "Skanks in NYC," riled up a fellow fashionista, model Liskula Cohen, by calling her an "old hag," a "ho," a "skank," and a "lying psychotic whore." (You can't say Port doesn't know how to hurl insults!)

Why is there bad blood between the women? They hang out in the same fashion circles - Port is a Fashion Institute of Technology student, Liskula a model - and apparently Liskula badmouthed Port to an ex-boyfriend once. (How old are these people, you ask? Port is 29 and Liskula is 37.)

Cohen claims the site hurt her reputation and pressured Google to reveal the "Skanks in NYC" writer. (Now, Port is suing Google for $15 million for invasion of privacy.) "By going to the press," says Port, "she defamed herself. Before her suit, there were probably two hits on my Web site: One from me looking at it, and one from her looking at it."

I'm pretty embarrassed for both of them and order a time out during which they both should retreat to a corner and sit until they can behave. What do you think - are these two too old for this nonsense?

Do You Think You're Good at Media Multitasking?

If you do, that might mean you suck at it.

Although we hear all the time that women are better at multitasking than men, a new study says that regardless of gender, media multitaskers (those who simultaneously use their computers, watch TV or text on their phones, for example) aren't as good at doing several things at once as they think they are.

The study was initiated when researchers asked themselves what it was about "high multitaskers" that allowed them to do what they do so well. But in experiments designed to test the two groups’ attention and memories, the group that defined themselves as consumers of multiple media did worse than the lower multitaskers. Ironically, it was the low multitaskers who were convinced they weren't going to be good at doing several things at once.

"The shocking discovery of this research," says Professor Clifford Nass of Stanford, "is that high multitaskers are lousy at everything that's necessary for multitasking." Now researchers want to know whether or not it's people with low multitasking skills who are drawn to multitasking, or if perhaps their jobs dull their ability to be good at it.

So You Still Want to Let the Ol' Boyfriend Take Nude Pics?

You might not after you get a glimpse, if you dare (extremely NSFW!) of guesshermuff.blogspot.com. It's so offensive in both content and intent that you'll have to cut and paste it yourself if you want to see it. (No hyperlink!)

I'm letting you know about it to remind you that those naked pictures you give to your boyfriend could resurface for strange dudes to leer at and comment on either because your boyfriend's computer is stolen, someone gets hold of its contents somehow - or he's out for revenge. (And to you folks who just like to post nekkid pics of yourself just because, I'm talking to you, too!)

Here's the premise of this site. On its main page, you see the image of a clothed woman. Some of the women might already have naked pictures of themselves on the Internet as "web-cam girls," but a lot of the photos look like they're just someone's girlfriend who took sexy boudoir photos - and I say "boudoir photo" euphemistically. (We're not talking white corsets and parasols here.) Underneath the clothed image, you can click on a link that will take you to naked pictures. Before you do that (and by "you" I mean some gross guy), you're supposed to guess how the woman grooms herself down there.

Thanks to Weffie for alerting womankind of such pestilence on the Internet. As she pointedly told me, there are photo-removal request instructions at the bottom of the page, which suggests that most of the women featured here have no freaking idea they're there until they see it or someone who knows them sees it. So wrong!

Just another reminder the next time you think only your significant other is the only person who may ever see you naked . . . just think about this site.

Internet Keeps Homeless Population Connected

"You don't need a TV. You don't need a radio. You don't even need a newspaper. But you need the Internet."

A 37-year-old homeless man in San Francisco says he stays connected through Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, and the forum he runs on Yahoo. Shelter attendants report that more and more overnight visitors are showing up with laptops and New York City is putting computers in shelters it operates. Perhaps keeping homeless people wired to the Internet will help them escape from the margins of society.

Tech Dating 101: Canceling Plans Via Text

Like I said last week in regards to making announcements over the Internet, I prefer face to face or voice to voice contact over text messaging or e-mail, but if you're looking for the easy way out, sending a text is definitely the way to go!

Since there are no rules set in stone, take each scenario into consideration. If you're canceling on a good friend, especially last minute, I'm sure she/he would appreciate hearing your voice and your reason for canceling, but if you're bagging out on someone who is easy going, not too sensitive or on someone you don't plan on seeing again (a bad date for instance), I think sending a text is perfectly fine. With that said, it definitely gives off the impression that you don't care enough to pick up the phone and tell him/her in person so take that into consideration.

I know that some people's main mode of communication is text or instant messaging, so if you don't think the other person would be offended by it, by all means keep your mode of communication status quo, but ask yourself how you'd feel if that person texted you instead of calling and use your answer as your gage.

Where Do You Stand? Our Oversharing Generation

With Twitter, Facebook, and MySpace taking over the Internet, it's hard to escape from this oversharing generation we've created. With a push of a button, we can now track our friends through their cell phones, Twitter our life stories, update our relationship status, and tell the world whatever is on our minds. And while I think these easy methods of staying connected with friends and family are a great benefit of our time, I also think a little mystery can be beneficial to all relationships.

I know there's a lot to be said here, so tell me where you stand on our current obsession with oversharing.

Do Tell: How Did Your Parents Meet?

I loved hearing about how all of you met your significant others a while back, and though some of your stories were very modern, most of you met the old-fashioned way, just like our moms and dads did. Since they didn't have resources like the Internet or match-making services to help them get a date, I'm curious to know how your parents met, so do tell!
