Aug 18 2008 - 7:46am Want to help the planet? Then what are you doing sitting there all dressed and everything? The newest wave in eco-activism is all natural, sans a stitch of clothing.
i am so sick of eco-warriors and animal rights activists. try helping starving children, women who are being raped everyday, kids who can't afford to go to school, you know things that make a
tangible difference to human life. these people are SO ANNOYING!!! and only hurt their causes.
Tell'em Nya. We have teeth in our mouth that is designed to eat meat. Millions of years of experience have taught us that some animals are tasty, and some aren't. If you personally don't want
to eat meat, that is your choice, and your loss.
If you don’t like fur don’t wear it, but don’t tell someone else what he or she can and cannot wear. You can’t force someone to have the same feelings about it as you. If Gwyneth Paltrow
wants to wear it let her.
how about this for a slogan i'd rather wear fur and be warm than be naked and die of hypothermia. PETA realy pissed me off when they used that man who got his head chopped off as a tool for
campaigning. Talk about gross insensitivity. I'm going to start my own group People Against PETA! I'd love to meet one of them in a dark alley.
yeah! what would the lion the witch and the wardrobe have been without those fur coats? the children would have froze to death in narnia!!! seriously though - i have no desire to wear fur...
and it makes me sad to think about animals being killed for fur alone, but i don't know if going naked is really a solution. plus, ewwww! don't need to see that ugly tattooed guy naked.
>i am so sick of eco-warriors and animal rights activists. try helping starving children, women who are being raped everyday, kids who can't afford to go to school, you know things that

I just don't ever think the "people-who-pay-attention-to-this-cause-should-instead-be-paying-attention-to-this-more-important-cause" argument gets us anywhere.
First, if we destroy the planet to the point where it becomes uninhabitable, we won't need to worry about the women and children, starving or otherwise.
Second, it's a never ending cycle. How can you pay attention to kids who aren't getting a good education when children are starving? Well, how can you care about children who are starving
when children being beaten and raped? And so on. If we only put effort into the most egregious wrongs in the world, we'd never donate to the swim team raising money to go to their state
competition or organize doctors to fix cleft palate deformities because there would always be something more important. And if you want to talk about making a tangible difference in human
life, let's look at the cases of asthma in children growing by leaps and bounds due to air pollution.
there isnt enough research right now to pinpoint that pollution is causing more cases of asthma attacks, and before you jump on me, i work specifically in the area of special needs children
for the department of health.
torgleson how is going naked helping anything. i mena seriously what do these guys actually do besides get naked photos taken and flour bomb celebs, and make videos of animals tortured and
mock celebs and generally piss off a lot of people? cleanign the air is going to take a long time and only when governaments decide to do so, cycling butt naked really isn't going spur the G8
into action and if you're alienating people from your cause with your tactics that's not going to help people push their governments for change. Seriously I have't heard one huge thing PETA
has done but MSF, Habitat for humanit,SOS children's villages i have heard a lot about them without them getting quasi-celebs to take of their clothes. Maybe i would care if people weren't so
pushy they just made me zone out.
"If you personally don't want to eat meat, that is your choice, and your loss."
I see it as my gain. Both for my body and mind, and for the environment. I can deal with people who eat meat--most of my friends & family do & I'm not preachy around them (I even
allow them to bring meat for the meat side of my BBQ). My only goal is to get people to eat less meat by see how wonderful vegetarian food can be.
If I was Stella, I would have a hard time forgiving Gwyneth. I mean, if it were regular, non-famous me and my equally non-famous fur wearing friend, then maybe we could deal with that--I
think it's wrong and cruel, but maybe if she just didn't wear it around me. But this is Stella McCartney and Gwyneth Paltrow--and Gwyn wore it in a national &/or international ad
campaign. Not cool.
However, being nude is not that answer. Please, put on an organic cotton tank and some yoga pants!
>and before you jump on me, i work specifically in the area of special needs children for the department of health.
I try not to jump on people. Especially Monday mornings.
nyaradzom2001, did I misinterpret your original comment? You seemed to be exasperated with all activists for the environment and animal rights, ("i am so sick of eco-warriors and animal
rights activists") but did you just mean PETA? Because that's obviously much different.
is peta not for animal rights? i am tired of eco-warriors but i really loathe PETA. with the whole eco-warriors thing i'm just tired of the whole doomsday aspect of it's now or a tidal wave
will kill us. so maybe i should say while i am so sick of eco- warriors(do we really need another naked event which is just an excuse for old pervs to get off), i have come to loathe PETA and
it's tactics. they both suck but one sucks far worse than the other. I am just over hearing about the environment and hearing about animals and how we must go naked than wear fur.
>is peta not for animal rights?
Yes, they are, but they're certainly not the only ones, and equating PETA with every person working to protect animals or the environment is just...wrong.
So, you're just sick of everyone who recycles and tries to conserve? People who care about the environment suck? Gee, I can see how other people taking care of the planet must get super
annoying...
oh well torgleson you see it your way and i see it mine, i don't need people constantly telling me about their lifetyle choices and how theira are the best way period. To each his own but
please don't keep on shoving it in my face.
It drives me crazy. There are so many realistic goals for improving animal conditions, yet PETA spends all their time, money, and effort on ridiculous stunts and funding terrorist
organizations. Instead of parading around naked, why don't they lobby for better condition in raising livestock? Instead of giving money to ALF or ELF, why don't they push for people to use
free-range products? Instead of paying for ads with naked celebrities, why don't we give money to no-kill shelters (instead of killing animals at PETA headquarters)?
It's unrealistic to expect all people to stop eating meat or animal products. It's unrealistic to expect everybody to stop wearing fur and leather. PETA has a lot of money and a lot of
members. They could actually be doing some good for animals, but they don't, and that's a real shame.
I am actually sick of the green movement: the recycling harpies who jump on me if i throw away a can, every tv show going green for a day (next on america's next top model, the girls ride to
thier next photo shoot in a eco friendly limo! yay!) Dumpster rats picking out plastic bottles or whatever in the dark and scaring the beejesus out of me.
C'mon people, it comes down to our first amendment rights--we may not like what people are protesting, but hell, it's their right just like it's our right to disagree or agree. At least they
take a stand on something--more than what a lot of other people do. You also have the right to ignore them and show some tolerance.
The fact that so many of you people think that it's ok for us to skin other creatures alive to wear is just disgusting! Everyone has their points of view on things, but this is a moral issue,
it's just wrong!
I find this type of protest rather silly...but I hate it when someone tells me what my priorities should be: I love animals and I want to protect them, I don't criticize anyone for choosing
to protect women and children, I'm glad they do that. I deserve the same respect for choosing to fight for what I believe in.
Animals being treated ethically DO MAKE a tangible difference for human life, whether you like that or not.
"First, if we destroy the planet to the point where it becomes uninhabitable, we won't need to worry about the women and children, starving or otherwise."
First of all, I agree 100% with Torg in that the "lets ignore issue A because issue B is much more important" approach is ridiculous. If we used that mentality, where would we be?
Second of all, what's up with all the hostility? Is it so crazy that some people really care about animal welfare? I can understand disagreeing, but what are you so threatened by?
Third of all, and I complain about this all the time on here, you all claim you hate PETA and they don't do anything worthwhile. I don't blame you for thinking that when the media, and
TeamSugar, only ever report on their more ridiculous campaigns. A few weeks ago, however, they convinced Zappos to go fur free, which is a huge accomplishment.
The downright anger towards the animal rights movement displayed here is really heartbreaking to me. I don't care if you respect animals or not, but to be so hostile towards a cause that so
many people really, truly invest their lives in? Beyond lame.

10PETA gets on my nerves.

I'm not...
Do you have rogue evangelical recyclers knocking on your door or something?

23LOL I did that on a lark without checking if it was a real emoticon or not. Such a shame. We need a cow emoticon.

You also have a right to moan and complain on message boards. : )
26Very true, torg!
27I'll give them their right to protest, but when they start throwing red paing on my clothes, we have problems.
28I agree, protests can go too far, and it's unfortunate that people abuse our rights.
