The 2009 Guinness World Records went on sale today. To mark the release, the world's shortest man, 2 foot 5 inch Pingping from China, posed with the world's longest legs, which stretch 4 feet 3 inches and belong to Russian Svetlana Pankratova.

At least 2,500 people from around the world have passed "go" and set a new world record for the largest simultaneous game of Monopoly. The big event took place in London, but organizers say once online players (who rolled virtual dice on Monopoly's online site, cell phones and game consoles) are counted, the total number of players could rise to 5,000.
The hour-long game took place on Wednesday and was the first of its kind.

The folks over at Guinness World Records have set out to name the world's fastest underpants jumper. The person who can hop in and out of a pair of underpants the fastest, without resorting to one leg at a time, gets the record. It's kind of a big deal.

Last month, thousands of Mexicans, including impersonator "Hector Jackson," performed Michael Jackson's "Thriller" dance with hopes of breaking the world record. While the success of the wannabe zombies is still under review by the Guinness Book of World Records, Mexico has already officially captured many records this year. The New York Times dedicated some reporting resources this week to the topic.

I'm sure that since this video aired two years ago, another teeny cat has come to replace Mr. Peebles in the Guinness World Book of Records as the world's tiniest cat. But let's give this little guy his due, shall we? In this clip, he's two years old, and yet weighs only three pounds.

One-year-old Boo Boo the Chihuahua is Guinness Book of World Records' smallest living dog (in height). According to her owner in Raceland, KY, Boo Boo was fed with an eye dropper every two hours when she was a newborn one ounce pup. That's right—one ounce.
