The San Francisco Zoo has a new member of its gorilla family - this adorable 9-day-old baby gorilla. He still doesn't have a name, but he's doing well, being bottle-fed and exercising. Who knew baby gorilla bellies were so cute?

I hate seeing animals in cages, so it's nice to know that there's at least some whimsy and happiness in their lives. In this clip, a gorilla's just sittin' around in his cage until a zoo-keeper comes by and sprays him with water. Presto--you get a pirouetting, strutting gorilla who for a moment looks like a combo of Fred Astaire and an ice-skater. Hard to believe this is real, but of course--it's been captured for Japanese television.

I know that staring is supposed to be rude, but what else am I supposed to do on my morning commute but look at cute guys, elegant women, and freakazoids? The freaks and women don't like it when I stare, but I don't think cute guys mind. The solution to this breach of etiquette? Either really dark sunglasses or these Don't Look at the Gorilla Glasses designed for visitors to the Rotterdam Zoo to put on in case a gorilla escapes. Cuz they don't like direct eye contact and will rip your head off if you look at them straight on.

"Well I think that they say that Rush Limbaugh is the 800 lb. gorilla in the Republican Party. But I think that's mean-spirited to say that - because I think he's down to 650 lbs. I think one should be fair to him about this whole thing."

On CNN yesterday, the Republican governor of California sounded a bit like Rush-hater Keith Olbermann. Anyone think Arnold might switch parties soon? Who could be surprised? He's married to a Kennedy, after all.

Here they are playing a xylophone classic, Charleston Capers by George Hamilton Green, on East Village Radio. They are too cute for words, and I am now totally in love with the xylophone!

I heard from a respected source that next to the xylophone-playing Cookie Monster was a pink bass-playing gorilla. (The eyes can only take in so much, right? Hence, the cropping.) The question is, what is Cookie Monster doing busking in the NYC subway system? I guess he's gotta pay for his cookies somehow. It's hard out there for a Muppet. . .
