For its annual Women of the Year issue, Glamour made Michelle Obama the first First Lady to grace its cover. The issue honors Michelle for her commitment to mentoring young women, and the First Lady shows off these mentoring skills inside the magazine, where she offers readers advice on life and love. Here are some excerpts:
- On how it's important to invest in yourself: "I have always tried to put my kids first, and then.

Glamour magazine learned that it pays to feature so-called plus-sized models in addition to the typical size 0 variety in their pages. (I say so-called because these women look pretty average sized to me!)
They got so many positive reader responses from their nude picture of model Lizzie Miller (sporting a little familiar-looking-to-most women pooch) that they've decided they're going to feature Miller and other curvy models like Crystal Renn, Kate Dillon, and Amy Lemons (shown above) in their November issue. They, too, will be in their birthday suits.

It's an ongoing debate — whether women dress to impress men or other women. According to the May issue of Glamour magazine, 83 percent of women polled said they actually dress to impress themselves! Sure, if the guy likes the outfit, that's an added bonus, but I'm curious to know if you do the same.

We're bombarded every day with images of skinny women on magazine covers, in commercials, and on our TV screens, which is probably why so many people strive to be thin.
In the April issue of Glamour magazine, 82 percent of women polled said they'd rather be slightly bigger and healthy than very thin and unhealthy. While I happen to agree, I actually thought more women would have admitted to taking drastic measures to be thin.

I wasn't all that surprised when I read in the April issue of Glamour magazine that 43 percent of couples fight about money. When you're having to learn to love the simple life again and cut back on your frivolous spending, it's easy to be on edge — especially if your money woes are ruining your sex life!
Of course this recession is affecting everyone differently so tell me, is money a topic of conversation that lends itself to an argument these days?

Some of us get emotional, some get cranky, and some of us have to deal with annoying bloating and sore boobs. But just like men tend to blame our bad moods on that time of the month, many women do too!

Some people are planners, but others leave everything to the last minute. I'm a planner; always have been and I'll probably always be one, which comes in handy during the holiday shopping season.
According to Glamour magazine, 23 percent of women polled said they shop for gifts a month in advance, but six percent admitted to waiting until the day of to get their gifts purchased, wrapped and under the tree.

Christmas is only 20 days away so if you haven't started shopping yet, you better get to it this weekend because according to Glamour magazine's December issue, 38 percent of women spend 10 or more hours shopping for holiday gifts! That seems a bit excessive to me, but I guess it all depends on how many people you're shopping for. So ladies, whether you're scaling down your celebration this year or going all out, do tell, who are you buying gifts for this holiday?

If you need another reason to keep your weight down, especially this holiday season, use better sex as your motivator! As stated in the December issue of Glamour magazine, research shows that sustaining a healthy weight can actually boost sex drive and fertility in both men and women. Mary Jane Minkin, MD, explains that extra body fat makes extra estrogen which has the ability to hinder ovulation in women, and new research reveals that those excess pounds on men could damage their precious sperm.

Even if you don't like to admit it, looks matter. Both our own and those of the people we date. It deems us as shallow if we place too much emphasis on appearance, but when it comes down to it, that's what initially attracts us to one another.
