It's hard out there for a nerd. Nerds could sit around and cry about it, or they (notice the distancing "they") could appropriate rap and hip hop and rap about video games and Dungeons and Dragons. Or. . .they could just play video games and D&D and save themselves and our eardrums the trouble!

If you didn't notice from last week's Freaks and Geeks Flashback, my heart belongs to the little geeks on the show. In this can't-look-away, cringe-fest of an episode, Sam decides he wants to spiffy up his look, but he doesn't realize until he gets to school that his "Parisian nightsuit" is going to get him more attention than he bargained for. Poor Sam! (FYI-I get to see him and other original cast members at a Freaks and Geeks reunion at the San Francisco SketchFest this Sunday! Woot!)

The short-lived comedy/drama Freaks and Geeks (produced by Superbad's Judd Apatow) was television at its finest. Cancelled after only 12 episodes, it nevertheless developed a cult following. And what's not to love? It focused on the only truly interesting people in school, the ones not glorified in shows like Gossip Girl. (I'm talking about the weirdos.) In this episode, Sam (John Francis Daley) gets invited to a makeout party. This causes a stir among his geek friends-some are excited, others a little nauseated. Tune in for some hilarity. . .

iPhone App Helps Men Keep Score of Chicks They've Scored

Pepsi's Amp Up energy drink (another one?!) has created a free iPhone app that gives players "up-to-the-minute info, feeds, lines" so that they can talk to their favorite kinds of women - "24 in all."

Basically, men can either get tips before they score, or they can upload details of their hookups as a result of these indubitably useful apps after they score. Nice touch, Pepsi.

I would rename this the "wishful thinking app." Because what guy who would ask his phone how he should speak to a "punk" woman because she's "staring holes into him" is really scoring at all? I love when the guy in the commercial clicks on the punk cartoon girl and it takes him to a definition of punk ("Punk rock is a genre that . . ."). Wow.

This app may try to help a man score one of 24 types of women, but it seems to be marketed to only one kind of dude: a loser.

A nice, loving relationship is a hard thing to come by these days- unlike a Darth Vader mask and a toy light saber, which seem to be one husband's (un-cute) way of saying "I heart you." This is why they include "for better or for worse" in those vows. Marry a geek, suffer the consequences.
