Addicted to A&E's Intervention? You're Not Alone

Exploitation. Voyeurism. Tears. There are all sorts of reasons to tune into A&E's Intervention. Maybe it's because it capitalizes on people at their lowest of lows that we cannot help but feel a twinge of guilt for tuning in again . . . and again. Its viewers are certainly a loyal bunch - some people (mostly them) would go as far as to say addicted.

Now Funny or Die has given the obsessive need to watch Intervention a name, a face, a parody. It's not the funniest thing I've seen, though I do love when his sister says, "It's the driving that worries me," as we see Saturday Night Live's Fred Armisen, the addicted, driving while watching. And it does star Elisabeth Moss, Fred's fiancee, better known as Peggy Olson on Mad Men!

10 Reasons Barack Obama Is the First Cool President

Regardless of what they think about his policies, a lot of Americans agree that President Obama might be the nation's first hip president. While some think his style is elusive and hard to define, I've narrowed down 10 things that make Barack Obama cooler than other commanders in chief.

Here's my list:

He's addicted to tech: He refused to give up his BlackBerry becoming the first emailing president.
He's not self-conscious: While he's sort of a goofy dancer, Barack sure looked cool when he came out grooving on Ellen's show.
He inspires teen slang: At one Albany, NY high school teens respond to a sneeze with "Barack you." (Barack does mean blessed.)
He's not uptight: The White House work day starts at 9 a.m. and it's not necessary to wear a jacket in the oval office.
He's married to Michelle: Nothing makes you more cool than having an inspiring partner by your side.

He doesn't get bitter: As Fred Armisen demonstrates on SNL, Obama can't hold a grudge. Hillary's Secretary of State! Joe Lieberman got to keep his powerful position in Congress. Barack even got friendly with rival John McCain right after the election.
He brought basketball to the White House: Not only did he promise to install a court, but he also correctly predicted that North Carolina would win the NCAA tournament.
He keeps up with the memes: Barack showed Beyonce his "Single Ladies" moves at the inauguration.
He can tell a good joke (sometimes): At his online townhall he joked that his virtual audience was probably high. But his sense of humor can flop too - like the time he made an insensitive joke involving the Special Olympics.
R&B artists just stop by his house: On Tuesday, Usher dropped in (without an invitation) to the White House to watch President Obama sign the Serve America Act.

After Waiting and Wondering - Does SNL's Obama Work?

Coming back from a writers' strike-imposed hiatus stretching back to Nov. 3, Saturday Night Live was back last night with a big revelation: Who would play their spoofy Show-bama.

During a send-up of last week's Texas debate (which centered very heavily on the Univision anchor Jorge Ramos, who tons of you found . . . appealing) the casting of Obama was revealed. Comedian Fred Armisen will fill Obama's hope-and-change shoes. After months of speculation as to the casting, some say the show might be courting controversy by not casting a nonblack performer in the role - though the show has a history of casting for funniest rather than most accurate.

I think Armisen got the speaking cadence and omnipresent frowny face down, but . . . Here's to hoping he'll have a long time to practice his impersonation! What did you all think? Were you loving the SNL Obama?
