Fiercest Little Runway Diva

I am both disturbed and impressed by little Diva Davanna, America's Next Tot Model. Talk about owning the runway and smiling with your eyes, legs, arms and, well . . . everything! How many of those gawky, insecure chicks on America's Next Top Model could sashay down the runway (in a freaking bubble, no less!) with this much ferocity and aplomb? Diva Davanna is going to rule the universe one way or another. We're just going to have to get out of her way. (I'm totally gonna practice that thing she does with her arms; I'm not sure on what occasion it could be useful, but it may come in handy somehow!)

The Devil Walks Prada

Well, Agatha Ruiz de la Prada. Sacha Baron Cohen is up to some new tricks. Instead of just punking Spring Break yahoos in Miami, he's going after Milan Fashion Week designers! Somehow, he got backstage access to the other Prada show in Milan and walked the runway until startled (and I imagine, pissed off) fashionistas gave him a well-heeled boot. All this for his upcoming movie Bruno: Delicious Journeys Through America For the Purpose of Making Heterosexual Male. And honestly - I can't wait! Go Bruno! A Pac-Man-inspired fashion show, you ask? At Fashion Week in London? (Look, I don't make the news. I just report it.) Giles Deacon had his models sashay down the runway for his Spring 2009 collection either looking like Pac-Man or wearing him on their dresses (see last pic in the gallery below). Some of these models look like they just ran out of a hair salon with those heat thingies still attached to their heads. I guess this is one way of attracting press and distracting women from your kinda pretty dresses. (Thanks for the send, Fashionologie!)

Flashback: '30s Fashion Predictions for the Year 2000

Famous American fashion designers of the 1930s were asked to predict what well-dressed folks would be wearing in the year 2000. Some predictions were spot-on and others were way off. These fashionistas somehow foresaw women of the millennium donning skanky see-through dresses, accessorized with body temperature regulating belts - for our ever-frequent hot flashes, I presume? And let's not forget the nifty headlights installed atop our heads - to offset our dim-witted minds, maybe? No matter how trashy the event or how bootylicious her backside is, shorty needs to sew her shite back together, nix the fringe, and - oh, I don't know - add a crotch to complete the look. And that is one wayward thong gone wrong! You know someone is dressed to ~~thr~~ill when a butt curtain would do wonders for their outfit.

Tomorrow Today was a UK television program of the '70s that claimed to predict trends and lifestyle habits of the future. And where did the experts foresee fashion going? They had a space-age getup in mind, complete with metallic miniskirts and "specially adapted cosmetics belts" to free us ladies of our bulky purses. How novel! Thirty years later, we can thank our lucky stars that these predictions were all wrong. Really now, what girl would give up her freedom to tote a Birkin?

Designer Creates Disappearing Dress (NSFW)

Ever notice how starlets these days will make 10 costume changes just for one event? Maybe if they ask nicely, designer Hussein Chalayan will make their lives easier and create one of these fantastic Transformer-esque dresses that, through some kind of mechanization, turns into different dresses. For my money, though, the most amazing dress is the one that disappears into a model's hat. You might not want to wear it, however, when meeting the significant other's folks for the first time...
