I love my Twitter and Facebook as much as the next gal, but there might be some truth to this Venn Diagram.

Perhaps our inner self-promoters and oversharers would have found another way to self-promote and overshare, but these social media platforms sure have made it easy for everyone to get up-to-the-minute updates on how we're feeling and what we're doing - whether they like it or not!

Tweet! I Just Got Laid!

A new survey reveals that 36 percent of people under 35 admit to updating their status on Twitter or Facebook right after they have sex. I guess it was just a matter of time before the postcoital tweet replaced cancer-causing cigarettes. Hot.

Tellingly, men were twice more likely than women to use social media after sex, and only 8 percent of people over 35 admitted to doing so.

While we don't know what exactly people are sharing with the world after they get laid, it's highly likely that they have sex on their mind and on their profiles. Last week most of you seemed grossed out by IJustMadeLove.com, a website that lets you pinpoint the exact location where you've had sex. But judging by this latest survey, the creators of that site are probably on to something - mixing intimacy with social networking really turns people on!

Awkward! He Liked Me Until He Saw My Facebook Page

Thanks to a reader with an issue (sorry, reader!), we have an awkward scenario for you that she needs you to weigh in on.

I met a guy on a matrimonial website (a little different from a regular dating website as the intention is for long-term relationships leading to marriage). Anyway he and I exchanged pics (he lives in a different city), and liked what we saw of each other so started texting and calling each other. It only lasted a month or so but he definitely expressed interest as I initiated first contact and all contact thereafter was initiated by him. So two weeks ago, he asked if I could add him to Facebook. Normally, I’m not comfortable with adding people I don’t know that well but I went with my gut feeling added him. Once I did, I saw that he’s very family oriented. Almost all his pics were of him with his family etc. I felt self-conscious of mine because a lot of my pics were from a few years ago, when I was a bit of a party girl. I’m still a social person, but I don’t really go clubbing much etc. now and I was concerned that my profile only reflected the me from a few years ago. Since I added him, we still have contact after but it seems to have scaled back significantly. He used to call or text every few days and now I haven’t heard from him in a week. How should I handle this?

Real or Fake: Married Couples' Facebook Overshares

It's hard to believe so much trouble could come from the idle chatter of a Facebook status, but it does. And where there's trouble, there's a blog. STFU, Marrieds is a collection of Facebook overshares between couples. Some are unbelievable, and others are just typos gone very wrong, but the best have the overshare between the lines, like, "Btw, I'm bridezilla!" See if you can tell the real from the fake.

Sex Offenders Banned From Social Networking

No one likes the idea of sex offenders lurking around online communities. Thus, Illinois has passed a law that will make it a felony for registered sex offenders to use sites like Facebook or MySpace. One state lawmaker explained:

The idea was, if the predator is supposed to be a registered sex offender, they should keep their Internet distance as well as their physical distance.

While there's no doubt that sexual predators can use the Internet as a tool to find victims, it seems like this law could raise civil rights concerns. Do you think it should be a felony for already-convicted sex offenders to use social networking sites in an otherwise lawful manner?

Actually, whether or not there are laws making it criminal for them to log on might not make any difference. Last year, 49 state attorney generals got Facebook to agree to identify and remove profiles of all registered sex offenders.

Facebook: Helping Gay People Come Out to the World

Social networks keep gay people from having the same, uncomfortable conversation over and over again. By coming out on Facebook, people no longer have to tell all their friends at different times that, yes, they are in fact gay.

In Time magazine, one woman shared her experience:

I remember the apprehension I had prior to going to a high school reunion in the days before Facebook was popular. I didn't care who knew I was sapphically inclined. I just resented having to tell them.

Now she assumes that when she becomes friends with people on Facebook, granting them access to her profile, she's effectively come out to them.

Facebook provides love-life announcement services to heterosexual users as well - for better or worse. I've learned about my acquaintances' new relationships, engagements, and breakups after the updates showed up in my news feed.
