Tips on Talking Dirty

Some people are infatuated with talking dirty during sex. It can be a real turn on, but if you're not entirely comfortable with the idea of speaking while in the bedroom, you're not alone. Maybe you've tried a few lines here and there but felt stupid and it seemed to ruin the mood. Or maybe you're just too embarrassed by the idea of even attempting a little bedroom chatter. If so, not to worry. The Daily Bedpost is here to offer some simple suggestions and ways to bring spoken language into your love life. You may have heard these cliché phrases before, but in the moment, they really do heighten the passion. I recommend starting off slow with short phrases (a little goes a long way). Try them several times and after a while, they'll feel effortless. Check out their first five suggestions:

Familiar: "[Insert partner's name here]. Oh, [insert partner's name here]."
Positive: "Yes." (repeat)
Directive: (while pointing) "Touch/kiss me here."
Encouraging: "Just like that."

Many of you admitted to enjoying talking dirty, but I'm sure there are just as many of you who have yet to give it a go. It's true that dirty talk done wrong can be fairly awkward, but when you do it right, it can be a total turn-on for both you and your man. So if you're ready to try something new, here's my crash course in talking dirty.

Fortunately, dirty talk is more about attitude than what you're actually saying. So no matter what you say, just make sure you use your tone of voice to really sell it.
Try reading some erotica beforehand. Not only will it get you in the mood, but it might just give you something to talk about.
If you're noisy in the bedroom, use that sound to your advantage. Moans and gasps can give way to the most natural dirty talk!
Take baby steps. Start by throwing in a few sexual and arousing words during your usual lovemaking routine, and as you get more comfortable, amp it up. The more you get into it, the more he will, too.

I know that most of you aren't fans of baby talk, but what about dirty talk? For some, it's easy to let your mouth run wild, whether it's talking out your fantasies or descriptively describing the act at hand, but knowing how to talk dirty in a way that makes it seductive is key in order for it to work! Of course we all like to hear that we're desirable, but do tell, are you generally into dirty talk? Does it turn you on or does it have the opposite effect? This or That: Baby Talk or Dirty Talk?

I wish I had a little bit more information from you, but I'm just going to have run with my gut instincts here. In general, I like the practice of couples discussing the introduction of a new (or unusual) kind of play before initiating it. I think it's respectful and loving, and symbolizes the whole notion of shared adventuring.

You say he's "always trying" to get you to have phone sex, and I'm going to presume you aren't using the word "always" loosely. You'll want to pay close attention in any relationship if your partner is always doing anything.

My advice? Be honest with him. If you're uncomfortable, tell him. I really encourage you, Shy Sharon, to be and say who you are in any relationship. He should be sensitive to your feelings, and if he's not, that's another thing about which you can pay closer attention.

Group Therapy: Dirty Talk

My husband and I used to have an awesome sex life, but lately there has been a problem. In order for him to achieve orgasm he needs to hear me talking dirty to him. Sprite Wants Us to Think It Tastes Like a Bodily Fluid

With all the sexually-charged commercials out there, I thought dirty ad executives could shock me no more. Well a proposed German commercial for Sprite has managed to upset my sensibilities once again by combining oral sex, a desire for Sprite, and a climactic finish. The ad crosses the line from racy to pornographic.

Creating a controversial commercial that ended up banned in Germany does create buzz for the brand. (They got us to talk about Sprite.) But I'm just not sure that comparing Sprite to semen is working for the product here. What do they want us to think? Semen - the taste that refreshes! NOT.

Sprite isn't the first company to have women perform sex acts on a product. Remember Burger King's ad in Singapore that had a woman attempting oral sex on a BK Super Seven Incher? Do you think the trend of pornographic ads will continue with success, or do you predict a backlash?
