Nowadays it seems like fewer families have the time to unwind together at night - the kids have after-school activities and more homework than ever, and the parents are working later, longer hours which can make family dinners seem obsolete.

I grew up eating dinner as a family almost every night, so I'm curious to know, did you too?

Group Therapy: How Can I Stop a Chatterbox?

My brother and his wife just moved to the town where the rest of our family lives. It’s great having them back for the most part, but his wife tends to talk nonstop, prattling on about herself and the most boring stories - usually ones we’ve heard a hundred times before like how she didn’t like broccoli before but now she does, how she loved making mud pies when she was little, how her cat acted when they moved, etc. It’s mindless and dreadfully boring.

When someone tries to add something or chime in or change the subject, she actually raises her voice and talks a little faster - it’s almost impossible to get a word in edgewise. She’s an intelligent person and capable of a much more balanced and interesting conversation, so how can we gently put a stop to this behavior?

When it comes to dating, I'm a big fan of dinner and drinks with someone I'm crushing on, and though it wasn't a landslide win, 27 percent of you agree! Cooking together and being active came in a close second and third, but it seems like chatting over good food and a good cocktail takes the cake in 2008!

Dear Poll: Is Dinner a Must on a First Date?

I just got off the phone with a girlfriend of mine who said that her crush finally asked her out on a date! I was so excited for her and asked where he was taking her to dinner to which she said, "No, no dinner. We are just meeting for a drink." Call me old-fashioned, but when a man asks a woman out on a date, I happen to feel that he should take her to dinner! In my opinion, bars just aren't the greatest place to get to know someone - they are loud, dark, and smelly. Having dinner with someone, however, is a much more intimate way to chat and learn about who's sitting across the table from you. Even if the date isn't going all that well, at least you can talk about the food you're eating!

So ladies, since my friend and I have such a difference of opinion, I have a feeling you will have something to say on the matter too. So what I want to know is - do you think dinner is a must on a first date?

Thanksgiving is almost here, and it might just be my favorite holiday. Every year my family gets together for a big party at my aunt's house. I always look forward to the classic food like turkey and mashed potatoes, but I also love the dishes specific to my family, like my mom's spicy jalapeno cranberry sauce or the creamed onions made according to my grandma's recipe. After dinner, we all head to the living room hoping to beat our food comas with a spirited game of charades.

These are the traditions that I will be looking forward to all week. What Thanksgiving traditions do you enjoy?

Today's Question:

I am involved with a married man and I don't know how to stop. He's been married for a couple of years, and his wife often goes out of town. I feel like I'm in a relationship with him: he calls or texts before he goes to sleep, cooks me dinner when he can, and we talk about almost anything with each other. I don't expect him to leave his wife for me, and it doesn't seem like he's going to. He just says he wishes we would have met before he got married. I know deep down that this is so wrong, but I feel like I can't do anything about it. I feel too happy when I'm around him. Help!

Dear The Other Woman,

I have some bad news and some good news. First, the bad news: you are not happy. You are in a relationship that is damaging to both you and this man's wife. The only person remotely benefiting from the situation is this unfaithful person you are involved with.

Now the good news: real happiness does exist. You can find someone - who's not married - to talk, laugh, cry, and have sex with. And it will be so much better. But first you need to do some work on yourself. Look at your life and decide what type of person you want to be. Do you want the adjectives selfish, dishonest, and disrespectful to describe who you are? Or would you rather have the words loving, faithful, and complete describe your behavior and your relationship? Next you need to boost your confidence. Think about what has made you do something that is undoubtedly so hurtful to yourself and this other woman. Is it because you are afraid of being alone? Is it because you think this is the best thing you can get? If so, let me tell you that a little patience can go a long way. Focus on the things you really enjoy in life (do you like running? painting? traveling?), the things that make you excited, and you will only become more desirable.

The search for love is a hard and frustrating one, but you are just going down a dark and depressing path with nothing but hurt waiting at the end of it. End things with this unavailable man, figure out why you love yourself, and then you will find someone who loves you for all those qualities too.
