In the latest issue of People, Kirstie Alley discusses her 83-pound weight gain in the aftermath of being a Jenny Craig spokesperson. Maybe she felt upstaged by Valerie Bertinelli, or maybe the only way she can lose weight is to do it in the public eye. (FitSugar has the details on her diet.)
Who knows, but I had to stop and ask myself, when is this going to end?

My friend has been talking about losing 10 pounds. I'm interested in fitness and health so I gave her a few suggestions, but her eating habits could use some more work.
I know that losing weight is a delicate subject so I don't want to offend her by offering anymore unwanted advice, but she keeps complaining about how the scale never budges.

Girl (and I assume it's a girl), if you don't eat well — or at all — you can't spell. In place of "Food: None," or "Food: Donught, sosages, porck chops, pretizels, Hugga Bugga juice" how about something healthy from the four food groups? Or from my only food group: cheese?

This week kicks off the Sugar network's "Wedding Planning Mania" coverage, which means there'll be a whole bunch of bridezillas up in here. WE TV has a series that follows brides-to-be around town while they hoot, holler, and make a hostile effort to plan their weddings. The 'zilla below ordered all of her beautiful (but "five pounds" overweight) bridesmaids to follow a strict no-carb diet — oh all right, with an itty-bitty spoonful of rice on the side.

Susan Powter rose to fame in the early 90's by raging against the diet industry, shouting at the top of her lungs, and sporting a platinum blonde crew cut. As the the wikipedia entry notes, "Though no longer in the limelight as she once was, she continues to write and motivate." She does indeed.

According to a poll conducted by teen magazine Sugar, girls ages 12 - 18 said that their mother's eating and/or dieting habits and views on food were the biggest influence on their own relationship to food. It was found that if a mom diets, she's twice as likely to have a daughter with an eating disorder.
