From "The Way-Too-Honest Home Shopping Network" channel to "The Too Demanding In Bed" channel, it offers the finest in home entertainment without all the fluff, special effects, or realistic plot lines. I'm already sold, so where do I sign up? (Truth be told, I really want that quilt made from the twenty ugliest quilts in the world, and where else am I gonna get it?)

What Would Your Requests Be?

Celebrities have been known to have some pretty outlandish requests. It's been rumored that Jennifer Lopez demands that her dressing room be filled with everything white - white walls, white drapes, white sofas, white flowers, and white Diptyque candles. For Christiana Aguilera, it's been said that she requests Flintstones vitamins. It's Froot Loops, Captain Crunch, and Pop Tarts for Britney Spears; a jar of pickle relish and a "ubiquitous deli platter with appropriate condiments" for Ashlee Simpson and just yesterday, Britney Murphy's hubby demanded a specially prepared peanut butter and jelly sandwich every hour on the set of her new movie.

Since these celebrities are the bosses, their demands are met but ladies, if you could make requests such as these while you're hard at work, what would you request?

Très Bizarre: Prisoner Wants Visit From Mom - Who Is a Cat

Five years may be a short prison sentence, but that's 36 years in cat time. Way too long for Peter Koenig, a German inmate who wants to see his mother while serving a five-year sentence for armed robbery. One small, furry problem, though. His deceased mother is reincarnated as a cat, or so he believes.
The (formerly) heat-packing Buddhist took his fight to court, demanding cat-visiting rights, but was turned down for being unable to "furnish proof that his deceased mother had been reborn in the cat.” In a misguided gesture the court suggested a compromise: he could always write her.

Funny as this story sounds, it seems to me that if you can have human visitors in prison, why not have furry, four-legged ones?

Some Adult Children Divorce Their Toxic Parents

You can choose your friends, but you can't choose your family. This fact of life means that many of us put up with people we might not otherwise get along with.

Yesterday's New York Times examined what happens when certain family members, namely parents, cross the line from imperfect to completely intolerable. Critical, demanding, non-accepting, or verbally abusive parents sometimes prove too toxic to tolerate, leading adults to "divorce" the people who brought them into the world.

While many mental health professionals typically emphasize salvaging relationships, Dr. Richard A. Friedman wrote in the Times column that in certain circumstances, it might be healthier to end the relationship altogether. Dr. Friedman compares cutting off contact with a parent to cutting off a limb in order to save the adult child's life. Painful, but sometimes necessary.

What is the best way to handle toxic parents? Would you avoid them, cut them out completely, or try your best to deal with them?

South Africa Weighs Legalizing Prostitution For World Cup

Fans heading to South Africa for the World Cup 2010 are interested in more than soccer. Anticipating that sport tourists will frequent prostitutes while they're in town, health experts are calling on the South African government to legalize prostitution for the tournament. The hope is that testing and registering legal sex workers will reduce HIV infections among visiting fans and South Africans alike.

In South Africa, approximately 50 percent of sex workers are HIV-positive. While this figure might be enough to dissuade cautious would-be customers, experts figure that the party atmosphere, fueled by alcohol, will lead to much promiscuity. In fact, South Africa has been anticipating a surge in prostitution demand for some time now. More than a year ago, police unveiled plans to legalize sex services for the 2010 games, arguing that Germany opened safe and easy "adult entertainment centers" during the 2006 World Cup. These plans have been rejected so far, for reasons including concerns about greater transmission of HIV, but if legalization means screening sex workers for HIV, it could make things safer.

No matter what happens, let's hope South Africa can use the World Cup to raise awareness about HIV testing. If that happens, everybody will walk away from the tournament a winner.

Dear Poll: Would You Demand That Your Husband Wear a Ring?

Earlier this week I asked you if you'd be okay if your boyfriend were to propose to you without a ring and 45 percent of you said you would, but how would you feel if your husband refused to wear one after you got married?

Of course wearing a piece of metal around your finger won't guarantee fidelity, but it will tell the world that you're spoken for. When I get married, I certainly want my husband to wear a ring, but what about you? If your hubby were hesitant or indifferent, would you demand that he wear a ring?

Talking about your sexually transmitted diseases with your sexual partner may be difficult and awkward. Not only can it seem accusatory and make you look non-trusting, it's pretty gross and embarrassing. It can make you feel dirty, scared and sexually unattractive.

While some people like to discuss their concerns before engaging in intercourse, others prefer to only talk about STD's when and only if they have a reason to bring it up. This is not highly recommended.

Oftentimes people also feel that a lover might be covering up something embarrassing about their sexual past. Do you think that you would ever demand to see your partner's health records/STD test results?

Unintentionally Funny: Ask Men Decodes Feminism

Ask Men recently called in a woman to answer the pressing question: what feminist demands do women want men to ignore?

The list the "relationship correspondent" came up with is awesomely and unintentionally funny, as is the accompanying article. Of course, the writer points out that she's not talking about "the stereotypical, garden-variety, hairy-armpit feminist." Instead she's focused on the "sexy feminist" - the non-clingy girlfriend who can pay her own bills.

The list of "those pesky feminist demands that even the most independent of women is expecting you to ignore" include:

"I can carry my own bag."
"Don't objectify me!"
"I'll pay my share."
"I can think for myself!"
"I won't be shackled into a marriage."

Would you be happy if men ignored these so-called feminist demands?
