I don't know about you, but I'm watching Dancing With the Stars this season merely to see ex-Bachelor contestant Melissa Rycroft shake her groove thing. After her embarrassing public breakup with fiancé Jason Mesnick, let's face it, she deserves her time under the spotlight! Of course, we don't know what really went on behind closed doors, but I'm still finding myself on Team Melissa. What about you? Are you routing for her to succeed, too?

Could This Be? Former VP Quayle Rumored to Be on DWTS!

Could it be?! Oh, that it be true! Dan Quayle, former veep under George Bush I, is rumored to be in talks to join the upcoming season of Dancing With the Stars. The show is lacing up its shoes to reappear on Sept. 22, and the cast list is not yet concrete.

The show has been angling for a political figure, and Quayle seems to be tops of the shortlist. With tidbits of fame that include his tussle with fictional character Murphy Brown, and the whole "potato/potatoe" incident, he might be a great asset to the show. I don't know about you but I'm making up a whole list of politicians I'd like to see cut a rug: Mike Huckabee, Nancy Pelosi, Henry Kissinger, Nicolas Sarkozy - I could play this game all day. If it's true, will you watch?

I've never watched ~~Dancing~~ Fainting with the Stars before, but if it's this action packed, I might start. Seriously, though, poor Marie Osmond! That English dude was in the middle of explaining how she and her partner performed and the lights went out in the marquee. Meanwhile, can I just note that interviewer's poor attempt at humor toward the end? Talk about adding insult to injury!

"Dancing With the Stars" is getting a lot of publicity this season because Paul McCartney's estranged wife, Heather Mills, is appearing on the show to dance with her prosthetic leg. (Bets are being placed on whether or not it's going to fly off during her performance.) This show has a genius for gathering as many Z-listers together as possible and somehow making it seem normal that they're in a dance-off. ("They Shoot Z-Listers, Don't They?") From the random sampling below, who do you think is most worthy of the title "Z-Lister?"

Season Two of Dancing With the Stars has me hooked, and it's inspired me to dig out my dancing shoes. Shaking your groove thang might be good for the soul, but it's also good for the glutes. It's been so long that I'm going to need a dance instructor if I want to avoid pulling something!

Performers make their reputations on the strength of their music and videos, and the dynamism of their live shows. If you could hire one female performer as your own private dance teacher, who would you choose?

Star Wars Dance Off

The entire time I was watching these folks in Star Wars costumes dancing to songs like "Thriller," "Footloose," and "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun," I kept thinking: reality television show. I would totally watch a reality show about Disney Hollywood Studios mascots on their days off. "This is the true story of seven costumed strangers, picked to live in a house, dance in Star Wars costumes together, and have their lives taped to find out what happens when the Chewbacca/Darth Vader/Princess Leia uniforms come off and the hot, sweaty people underneath start getting real. . ."
