Ever wonder where people learn all those obscure moves they bust out on the dance floor, like "the lawnmower" or "the sprinkler"? Well, I think I just found the dude responsible for proliferating these dance floor disasters. He's invented a few new grooves and demonstrates them for us in the following video. My favorite is "Cleaning Up The Poo In The Litter Box." Purr-fect that one and you're set to party.

These two are practicing some kind of swing dance move when it takes a turn for the worse. He's supposed to flip her by grabbing her hands, but as she does, she kicks him somewhere (I still can't figure out where even after watching it a few times), and then he drops her flat on her back. Yeowtch.

Do Tell: What Was the Worst Pickup Line You Ever Got?

Our friends at Em & Lo have listed the 10 rules of the pickup, some for men ("Never look someone in the boobs while talking"), but some which are addressed equally to women ("Do not wordlessly dry-hump a stranger from behind on the dance floor"). Damn! There goes my main move.

When I was an undergrad, I was assigned Venus in Furs for a literature and psychoanalysis class and was reading it intently at a cafe. Now, the book is an erotic tale about a man obsessed with a dominatrix, and the cover had an arresting image of a woman in a red fur coat. A guy kept walking back and forth past my table, and finally, when I looked up, he gave me a creepy look and said, "That is my favorite book. May I sit down?"

Needless to say, the answer was no, but that probably wasn't even the worst pickup line I ever got - just the one I can remember. What was the worst pickup line you ever got? What was your reaction?

The "Single Ladies" craze is sweeping the Baby Nation! I know we just brought you a baby dancing to Beyonce's hit yesterday, but this response is just too good to pass up. In a baby dance-off, the cutie in the video above would dance the first baby under the table (or onto the floor, judging by the first baby's moves). Honestly, I think baby number two might do the dance better than I ever could. Seriously. This kid knows the actual moves. Should we get ready for a new show: Dancing With the Babies?

This appears to be the strategy that the dude dubstepping on the right seems to have taken. I totally identify with him; I always try to learn fancy dance moves thinking in my head I look like the guy on the left.

Flashback: Move Your Boogie Body

So many things from the high '80s have made a resurgence: skinny jeans, Members Only jackets, and Fresh Prince of Bel-Air cocked and oversized baseball caps. The one thing I don't see returning is the use of the word "boogie" in any unironic way. "Hey, wanna boogie?" Or, as it's used in this vid, "Move your boogie body." This aerobics video is even funnier than Heidi Montag's sendup of exercise videos from the past. Turn the volume up, folks; this one's a winner. "Find it. Feel it. Do it. Oom chicka oom chicka oom chicka oom chicka oom!"

Pole Dancers Reach For Olympic Gold

From the stripper pole to the Olympic podium? Proponents of "pole fitness" want more respect, and perhaps a gold medal would help. In an interview with Marie Claire, dance instructor Collette Kakuk, cofounder of the Pole Fitness Association, makes a case for pole dancing as an Olympic sport.

Poles aren't just for strippers anymore. There are stripping-based fitness classes, sport poles, and even national pole-dancing competitions. The moves require no small amount of strength, flexibility, control, and balance. Kakuk argues:

But if you look at rhythmic gymnastics and figure skating, so many of the movements are similar to what we do on the pole. We have to shatter the taboo. The pole is just another fitness apparatus, like a vertical balance beam.

I don't doubt that you have to be incredibly fit to pole dance. But I can't help but think the pole dancers might be a bit overeager for Olympic glory. As Kakuk points out, "we need to unify the sport. We don't even have common names for our moves." Well, at least they have a readymade soundtrack!
