Cute or Creepy? The Pygmy Jerboa

The Pygmy Jerboa (no, that is not a Pixar creation) is a small jumping desert rodent found in Asia and northern Africa. It looks like a cross between a chick and a mouse, has a long tufted tail and, as you can see, long hind legs. My favorite detail about this weird little critter? Its fur is "long, soft and silky."

This was going to be a cute alert, because I thought it was a cat's paw. But now, I'm not sure what it is, and it is henceforth designated as creepy. It's the stuff of nightmares, really. (I know, I'm not an equal-opportunity cute lover. So sue me.)

Robot Woman Scares Me

I must not be keeping up with my robot news, because if this is from the Akiba Robot Fair from 2006 - where are those 'bot scientists now with the technology? Maybe the person sitting next to me on public transportation is a 'bot and I don't even know it! We're due for a good robot movie, if you asked me. Hollywood, are you listening? (Probably not.)

Criss Angel Turns 8-Year-Old Girl Into 20-Year-Old

The illusionist (how's that different from a magician again?) Criss Angel performs some trick so that it looks like a child turns into a 20-year-old. I'm actually not all that interested in this trick. (She's standing on a table, I'm sure something's going on under the table we don't know about.) Instead, I was too busy being unsettled by his approaching an 8-year-old child and turning her into a barely legal adult, especially when he asks her mother, "Can I try something with your daughter?" Ewww. Great choice of words.

Flashback: A Diff'rent Strokes Death Threat

I thought people tuned into sitcom television for a lighthearted good time, but apparently not. If I didn't know that the following clip was from the popular '80s show Diff'rent Strokes then I would have mistook it for some hokey scene from an old-school Lifetime made-for-television movie. Mr. Crazy Eyes is unsettling, but Sam's almost nonchalant response to this death threat is even more disturbing. Where are the tears? The screaming? The escape and chase? Even a laugh track could've helped resuscitate this scene, but no . . .

Creepy-Ass Sci-Fi Valentine Is Killing Me

Valentine's Day is long gone, I know, but this is too unworldly to keep to myself. What lunatic actually thinks that an alien pointing a gun at his love, while robotically chanting "you must be mine" and "obey me," would make any gal swoon? He's gotta be joking, but even so, this is more nightmarish than funny. Run, Lisa Peters of Dublin, run! No, don't booty dance- run!

American Idol Is Ba-ack!

American Idol premiered last night and we know the routine by now: they're gonna show us the worst before the best. But the worst really are the best cuz that's when all the crazies come out of the woodwork. Take this serial killer: he can't sing, he can't rhyme, he can't even spare us the sight of his chest fuzz. He also can't keep his eyes off of Crazy Paula- a red flag in and of itself.

A Fake PSA Fit To Be A Real PSA

We've seen some darn creepy PSAs on the this site, which is why I initially mistook this for the real deal. Thankfully, it's not. I'd never do anything endorsed by this depressed looking dude and his half-dressed, oversized puppet, but I might recommend he make an appointment with a good dentist! And maybe get a day job when he's done.
