Remember my poll on annoying corporate catchphrases? Well, here's a more concise list you can copy and carry around in your pocket. During a meeting, mark off a box every time someone says an annoying corporate catchphrase or buzzword, and silently to yourself (unless you want to go to HR), say "Bingo!"

George Orwell once feared for the English language, noting that vague prose, wordiness, and clichés were killing the truth and our souls. Well, he never heard corporate speak! (Click here and here if you're dying for more.) He would have popped a vein if he could hear sentences like, "Moving forward, let's touch base about leveraging our chances at incentivising folks into purchasing these synergistically utilizable value-added, outside-the-box integrated solutions.

I like this version of bingo that highlights awful corporate speak. I mean, can we be on the same page about how empowered we'd be if we ditched terms like value-added? Bottom line: if we we just thought outside the box, we wouldn't need these corny clichés.

Dear Sugar--
Weeks after finishing college I landed a job for one of the world's biggest companies. It was incredible and 8 months on, I'm still pinching myself. However, the transition from the breezy student life, to the grueling work days where I get home well after 7:30 pm are starting to take their toll.
