In today's New York Times he painted a picture of an American leadership free from extreme partisanship and ideology:Walking into the Obama White House of my dreams will be like walking into the Gates Foundation. The people there will be ostentatiously pragmatic and data-driven.

If you thought Democrats were pro-choice, you might want to think again. The recently passed healthcare bill coming out of the Democrat-controlled House of Representatives could significantly decrease access to abortion even for Americans on private insurance plans.
After a 290-194 vote, the House passed an amendment Saturday that bans the use of federal funds to cover abortion for anyone using the public healthcare plan.

Conservative columnist David Brooks wrote an essay in the New York Times yesterday about how technology is ruining love and sex for the youngins.
Although Brooks reaches this conclusion based on the testimony of some horndogs who agreed to be "online sex diarists" for New York magazine (he admits it's a pretty unrepresentative demographic), Brooks nevertheless believes their stories tell us something fundamental about love in the age of technology: it's allowed people to treat potential sex partners (and it's significantly limited to this) as if they were products on eBay.

"I think for a long time I wasn't really out to myself growing up in Omaha, Nebraska, to a Catholic conservative family. It took me a while to come out to myself and not long after that I came out to them. I think that it really couldn't of been a better experience.

I typically avert my eyes when graphic scenes flash across my television screen, so it boggles my mind that violence is such a celebrated form of entertainment. A new report from the Parents Television Council suggests that the prevalence of violence on TV is getting even more disturbing. The report reveals that violence against women and teen girls is up 120 percent, while violence shown on television general has raised by only two percent in recent years.
