Matt Damon, 2007's Sexiest Man Alive, is starring in The Informant!, which opens this weekend. Matt fans won't be seeing a familiar face (or body) when they show up to the theater, though. The actor had to gain 30 lbs. for the character, which he describes as "the Sexiest Man Alive's chunky cousin."

In addition to being an actor, Matt is a husband, dad, humanitarian, and outspoken citizen. If you remember, he made his support for Barack Obama very well known last year. What do you make of him?

Usually when someone is described as a "model turned" anything, I'm skeptical, so when I first heard about model-turned-TV-host Alexa Chung's new MTV show, It's On with Alexa Chung, I figured I'd steer clear. But after watching countless clips of the daily show, I'm smitten with this adorable British import.

It helps that even Chung doesn't relish her model past: "That sucked . . . you have to stand on a cross on the floor and no one talks to you, and I'm what you call a talker," she says in her MTV bio. Now the 25-year-old makes a living talking: she's not only cute and stylish (love this dress she wore to the VMAs) but she's also gifted with a very sassy, quick wit. She's a bourbon drinker. Perhaps someday we can get together over old fashioneds and talk about books.
Speaking of which, her favorite book is Revolutionary Road, which I also think is awesome.
She tweets about grammar!

I dislike the word "cougar," but I've got no problem with women going after younger men. After seeing Joseph Gordon-Levitt in (500) Days of Summer and in this photo on the set of Inception, I think I have a new younger-man crush.

Gordon-Levitt isn't that much my junior - it's not nearly as extreme as my 30-something friend's thing for Zac Efron - but he's baby-faced enough that the crush feels a bit cougarlike. How about you: what younger male celeb do you find most alluring?

Well, welcome back, handsome Jared Leto! The on-again, off-again hottie showed up today to promote his movie at the Venice Film Festival looking quite dapper - almost too dapper? I still have a weakness for Jordan Catalano, but Leto's looks have serious ups and downs. I like the salt-and-pepper stubble, though. What about you?

Men are so lucky. Although there seem to be very narrow standards for what is considered beautiful for women, men can be considered hot in a million ways. Take the ugly hot guy. He's no Brad Pitt or George Clooney. In fact, compared to them, you might even say he got hit with the ugly stick.

The French understand the concept of ugly hot better than we do; their word jolie-laide (literal meaning: pretty/ugly) describes unconventionally beautiful women. They may have big noses, strange teeth, tiny eyes, but whatever it is, the combination produces a sort of je ne sais quoi sexiness. Men may desire the PYT, but some of us women prefer the more interesting UHG. Who's your favorite ugly hot guy?

PoliWood Asks: Should Celebs Get Political?

Wag the Dog director Barry Levinson has tongues wagging at the Tribeca Film Festival with a new documentary called Poliwood, which premiered this weekend. As the name suggests, the film explores what happens when Hollywood celebrity gets all smooshed together with DC politics. Featuring celeb cameos from Spike Lee, Josh Lucas, Anne Hathaway, and more, the doc goes behind the scenes of the 2008 campaign, including the Republican and Democratic National Conventions.

The film is backed by the Creative Coalition, a nonprofit group of politically active actors and other artsy types, so don't expect a straight-up skewering. But Levinson isn't afraid to insert his own perspective on the potential confusion that PoliWood promotes. He says,

"Well, I think what happened is, you have this television screen, and everything has to go through that screen - and at a certain point, I don't think that we can tell the difference between the celebrity and the politician. They both have to entertain us in some fashion."
