I met this really cute guy a few nights ago. We've gone out on one date so far, and I honestly thought it went really well. We had lots to talk about, lots of stuff in common, and he kept making references to the future, saying things like, "We've got to do this," or "Next time we hang out, remind me to take you here," etc.

We all know that boys will be boys, but when they are in a relationship, time with the guys becomes all the more important. Just as women need alone time with their friends, men desire the same interaction. But I've noticed a common theme when my girlfriends tell me about their significant others' nights out: they're constantly up to no good, drinking too much, staying out too late, and spending too much money.

I broke up with my boyfriend of one year about two months ago. Since then, one of my very best guy friends has moved back to the area, and we've been spending a lot of time together. He's 25 (I'm 24), and we've known each other for about two and a half years.

My mom always used to refer to one specific girlfriend of mine growing up as boy crazy. Of course, we were young so it wasn't that she was promiscuous, but she definitely loved the attention she got from the boys! Now I'm not going to say that I shy away from male attention, but I can comfortably say that I've never been a boy-crazed girl.

I feel like my best friend, who is also my potential boyfriend, takes me for granted. I can't help but feel like I'm the one always making time for him, calling him, and doting on him. I'm always there whenever he needs me, so it feels like he doesn't appreciate the value that I bring to his life.

A friend of mine is dating a 32-year-old man with two roommates. She lives alone, but 20 minutes outside the city so whenever they go out, she reluctantly spends the night at his place. She has complained to me on numerous occasions that their place resembles a frat house, it's always loud, people come and go at all hours of the day, and she has to worry about being walked in on while she's going to the bathroom.

Hello DearSugar Readers --
I received an email last week and have been thinking long and hard about how to respond. I've decided this isn't something for me to answer alone, and I'd like to ask all of you to offer your opinion and advice about this rather universal and eternal question. I imagine we'll have a kind of community encyclopedia when we're done, and perhaps this young woman will have herself a roadmap, too.

When you first start dating someone, you both stay on your best behavior. Later, it's soothing the way you feel comfortable doing anything in front of each other, and how entirely yourself you can be. But if you want to keep the romance alive, fellas, there's a small list of things you might want to share strictly with your buddies.
