I have a friend who recently went from naturally brunette to shockingly blond, all because she was having a tough time in the dating department. She heard guys prefer blondes and thought changing her hair color may help change her luck. Have you heard that too?

While perusing the local book store, I came upon this book called Just Do It. The subtitle says "How One Couple Turned Off the TV and Turned On Their Sex Lives For 101 Days (No Excuses!)." Wow is all I could think.

I just finished reading a great book! Blackout Girl: Growing Up and Drying Out in America , written by Jennifer Storm, a former teenage addict, is a page turner to say the least. This autobiography tells the story of her tumultuous childhood and her fast descend into alcoholism and drug addiction.

I'm currently rereading Eat, Pray, Love because I loved the message so much. It reminded me how important it is to nurture yourself and to never let anything stop you from doing what you want. It inspired me to take more time for myself and to not feel bad about putting my needs first.

Yvonne K. Fulbright recently wrote a book entitled Sex With Your Ex. And 69 Other Tempting Things You Should Never Do Again (Plus a Few That You Should) which is chalk full of dating no no's -- no no's that everyone has committed at least once in their single/dating lifetime!

Summer to me is all about relaxing and taking it easy. It's a time to slow down and soak up the sun.
Even though most of us work in the summer, you've got to make some time to sit on the beach, outside on the lawn, on a park bench, or out on a boat.

Mad Men creator Matt Weiner has said Helen Gurley Brown's Sex and the Single Girl and Betty Friedan's The Feminine Mystique are major influences on the show, but we have yet to get a gander at any characters reading those books. Yet the characters do read plenty, and thankfully, the books of Mad Men are as carefully chosen, as we'd hope. Each tells us something about the character and the time.
