Dear Sugar,
My boyfriend and I dated for three years, and were fairly serious. We had a future mapped out and were practically planning our engagement. However, during those three years there were some major personality clashes I just couldn't ignore.

We love us some Golden Girls here at GiggleSugar, so it was very sad to hear that Estelle Getty, my favorite Golden Girl, passed away yesterday, three days before her 85th birthday. Estelle got her start in the Yiddish theater and as a comedian in the Catskills' "Borscht Belt." Her star began to rise when she played Harvey Fierstein's mother in the Broadway production of Torch Song Trilogy, but it was her role as the wise-cracking, take-no-prisoners Sophia on The Golden Girls that made her a comic legend.

Some women embrace their birthdays with unbridled excitement, either as an excuse to celebrate with friends or because they like being the center of attention. Other people — especially as they get older — choose to mark their birthdays quietly or not celebrate them at all. Then, of course, there are some folks who even celebrate their half birthdays!

The Obama kids (Malia and Sascha) had a first this week: a full-family interview on Access Hollywood. Though if the girls had any plans for an encore, dad has put his foot down this morning. Obama regrets the interview, saying that he doesn't think the exposure is "healthy" and that the family got carried away because the interview was on Malia's birthday, and added that famous dad-ism, "it won't happen again."

You and a friend each recently had a birthday, and although you were out of town for yours, she’s having a party to celebrate hers with a group of your mutual friends. You consider hunting for a gift before you go, but since it’s a large group party you opt not to and assume that it won't be a big deal.
Much to your dismay, when you arrive at the party the birthday girl hands you a huge present.

British Family's £4m Marbella Villa Trashed After 400 Facebook Revellers Crash Girl's 16th Birthday Party
That's a $7,900,000 villa to you and me. (Must be nice.) 16-year-old Jodie Hudson made the mistake of advertising her sixteenth birthday bash as "the party of the year" on FaceBook, giving out her address and promising lots of alcohol and DJs. Although she and her mother (who was present) were expecting around 400 guests to this villa in Andalusia, Spain, teens from all over Costa Del Sol showed up, destroying property, stealing thousands of dollars worth of clothes and jewelry and justifying it because they heard Jodie's parents were divorcing anyway.

Via a birthday party for a male friend, you meet a guy who seems absolutely great — he’s friendly and flirty, too! To top things off, he ends up giving you both his email and phone number before the night is over with the hope that you’ll call him soon.
When a group happy hour comes up soon thereafter, you decide to take the initiative and send him an email.

Dear Sugar,
My boyfriend hides my things. If I leave my shirt, my slippers, even my hair ties — anything girly — he hides them in the closet. We only see each other on certain nights and when I come over to his place on our "on nights," I find my stuff tucked away.
