We've wrapped up all of the best stories of 2008, and now it's time to say goodbye to President George W. Bush. In his last full year as president, Bush lame-ducked the spotlight and (a pair of Iraqi journalist's shoes), as the country and the world focused their attention on the election of a new president. Favorite Woman in Power of 2008: Hillary Clinton

Hillary Clinton may not have won the presidency, but she did prevail as CitizenSugar readers' favorite woman in power of 2008. With 45 percent of the votes going to Hillary, Condoleezza Rice placed a distant second with 17 percent.

While she won't start 2009 as the nation's first female president, Hillary will most likely be the face of America abroad, serving as the top-US diplomat. So much of Hillary's public life has been directed toward trying to call the White House home, so I'm excitedly curious to see how she evolves during her next chapter in leadership.

Some write-in votes included: DC Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton, Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchinson, Sen. Diane Feinstein, Sen. Claire McCaskill, and Sen. Barbara Boxer. All these impressive women leaders make it hard to choose just one favorite! Check out all the other highlights of the past year!

I've always been a fan of the what if game which is why I love our new feature, Handle This. Of course no one knows how they'd really react in any of these wild scenarios unless it actually happened to them, but it's always fun to imagine yourself there.

Favorite Celebrity Campaigner of 2008: Matt Damon

Matt Damon, who expressed his political opinions and also traveled to Haiti to help distribute food aid this year, is CitizenSugar readers' favorite celebrity campaigner of 2008. Matt made his support for Barack Obama public, even hitting the campaign trail to rally support. But he also didn't keep his disdain for Sarah Palin a secret. In September, Matt said:

"It's like a really bad Disney movie. The Hockey Mom. Oh, I'm just a hockey mom from Alaska, and she's president. She's facing down Vladimir Putin and using the folksy stuff she learned at the hockey rink. It's absurd."

Matt's nightmarish Disney movie didn't become reality, but it did stimulate an imaginary trailer about a hockey mom putting the "ice" in Vice President. To check out the trailer Matt inspired, read more.

The Results Are In: The Worst Movie of 2008

Oh, Paris Hilton: What would we do without you on Giggle? The readers have voted, and your big movie project this year also happens to be our worst movie of 2008. That would be The Hottie and the Nottie, which has a tagline that incorporates your personal catchphrase: "That's Hot."

Hottie was a clear first-place winner with 43 percent of the votes, but Mike Myers's The Love Guru also had a (dis)respectable showing.

Most Shocking Headlines of 2008: Eliot Spitzer’s Fall From Grace

Former New York Governor Elliot Spitzer won CitizenSugar readers' pick for favorite political scandal, and it's easy to see why: His fall from grace tale is the stuff of Law and Order plotlines. In March, details emerged that suggested Spitzer spent tens of thousands of dollars on the NY call-girl service Emperors Club VIP, some putting the figure as high as $80,000. Favorite Newsmaker of 2008: Barack Obama

It was a tremendous year for Barack Obama. He was elected President, named Time's Person of the Year and even picked as CitizenSugar readers' favorite newsmaker of 2008.

Like the presidential election, it wasn't even a close call. Obama brought in 56 percent of the vote, far ahead of Sarah Palin, who received 17 percent of the vote, and Olympic golden boy Michael Phelps, who received 12 percent of the vote.
