The media is outraged (!) that someone secretly taped ESPN's Erin Andrews, aka America's Sexiest Sportscaster, while she was undressing in her hotel room. News outlets were so upset yesterday that they continued to air portions or publish stills from the video that show Erin nude. Sigh.
Erin's attorney released a statement that said:
While alone in the privacy of her hotel room, Erin Andrews was surreptitiously videotaped without her knowledge or consent. She was the victim of a crime and is taking action to protect herself and help ensure that others are not similarly violated in the future.
The re-airing of the crime is perhaps worse than what originally happened to Erin, and the attorneys have also signaled that any reposting of the images could make parties accessories to the crime. As a woman who could imagine this happening to me, I felt violated just reading about this story. I can't even imagine how Erin Andrews must feel.

Single Dress
A weirder part of the story is that the video is being used to spread a bunch of particularly nasty trojans for both PC and Mac.
I really am horrified by this story. This woman is definitely being violated publicly.
1This really is awful. But it's even more awful that the outlets reporting the story are showing parts of the video! Making her relieve it over and over again.
2Poor Erin.
3I
Terrible. I'd sue the person/people responsible for creating the footage and violating my privacy AND every single media outlet, online or on TV, that reposted or replayed it. Obviously they got it from *somewhere*, and they're only contributing to the crime.
4It's pretty hard to find someone who is posting videos or pictures of you on the internet. They are often times very smart and know how to cover their tracks. I have been a victim of this type of crime and even though I knew who it was there was no proof. My word against his. I do hope with all of my heart that they find out who did this. It's a terrible feeling to know that there is someone lurking outside watching you and I wish her all the courage in the world to get through this.
The news channels that are broadcasting segments of the videos deserve to rot in hell. How dare they continue the crime. Disgusting.
5I was watching TMZ last night and they said that they wouldn't publish the video because it was so disrespectful. When TMZ is *more* respectful than other news outlets, that is a problem
6Wow. +1 to what leslievanhoute said. This is just horrible.
7srsly? tmz, wow. yeah those other news outlets should be ashamed of themselves. the footage was not only obtained illeagally but it was def. a violation of her privacy. reshowing the footage is like showing the footage of a rape, it's disgusting and they should be ashamed of themselves.
8The R word was my first thought as well. It really does feel like this woman is being publicly violated.
9Wow, that's interesting re: TMZ.
It bothers me that this woman was violated, and it's so tacky (and unethical) to show this in the media. Keep it classy, CBS and Fox News.
