It's Official! Hillary Clinton To Be Secretary of State

After "much will she or won't she?" speculation, Hillary Clinton has accepted the job of secretary of state offered by Barack Obama. After the news broke a couple weeks back, 75 percent of you said they thought Clinton should take the position because she and Obama would make a great team.

Secretary of state is the highest-ranking cabinet secretary and head of the Department of State, concerned with foreign affairs. President-elect Obama will appear tomorrow with Hillary Clinton and current Defense Secretary Robert Gates, who will remain head of the Pentagon under Obama, at a press conference in Chicago at 10:40 a.m. (EST).

I don't prefer divorce. But I am realistic. I have been married for nearly 9 years. Which is an eternity now days. But if my husband were to treat me like property... I wouldn't be sticking around. a I can make a sweeping generalization based on one comment. Someone said it was wrong for McCain to leave his first wife. So that must mean all democrats are against divorce??? And I am not a republican. I am a libertarian.

I feel I am a person and I am not perfect, but why do I have to choose to a b!tch all the time. Why can't I choose to be when the situation calls for it? I also don't think I was being one, so anyway. And HF, who said I didn't want a response? Em- I'm not jealous. I just don't like Hill. That's all. Am I entitled to that opinion? And I didn't bring Palin into this conversation.

OH NO YOU DIIIIIIIIN'T! indie, I thought that could use some repetition. ;) I'm also shocked that no one even considered the whole "staying together for the kid" thing with Hill and Bill. Granted, Chelsea wasn't 5 years old when this all went down, but still. Sheesh. She's a human being. I also love the "Good luck--she's gonna need it! Mykie, I can even see cheating maybe once. Sometimes things get carried away and people make mistakes. But to cheat repeatedly? That's a HUGE problem in the foundation of a relationship, IMO. You're right, it could go around in circles. Like I said, I wasn't the one arguing to begin with. I was simply giving you the answer you were asking for.

How do you know that Hillary didn't choose love, and that MCain didn't do it for money? Answer is you don't and i don't so i suggest people let go of this whole why did she stay with Bill cos both sides could go around in circles all. anyway i'm still giddy about this!!!

Well since you ask, I'm actually mostly fine with it because A) When faced with an extremely difficult decision (love versus loyalty), he went with a decision that made him happy and he went for it all the way, not just by having a little Cindy-pie on the side and B) He didn't just ditch Carol on the side of the road. He made sure she was okay, left her a house and is taking care of her medical bills for the rest of her life. Even Carol says her disfigurement (she's not paralyzed, fyi) was not the reason for their divorce, so why keep spinning it like it was? It was a lose-lose situation to have a wife who you've fallen away from and also a woman who you love. There's no right choice, but at least he made a choice instead of trying to juggle both women. My stance has always been that life is too short to stick around with someone out of habit. Always choose love. I don't care to debate about the merits of politicians' marriages, this was purely because you asked. You have your values and I have mine, and it is a-o-kay.

This is the best thing ever!!!!!!!!!!!! i love it and I love HER!!!! Her family life hasn't stopped either of them from doing a great job and commanding tonnes of respect around the world while those who are being faithful to their wives are mucking up america and being mocked all over hte world. Palin and Clinton are like apples and oranges. They are NOT the same at all -just because they are both women. Let it go!!! I am so happy about this. Good for her. I am a huge supporter of her- ever since she became First Lady in fact. I think she will be great.

I don't know if you are playing devils advocate or what." Hey Hainan: You seem to love to condemn others for their actions. Must get a secret pleasure out of pointing out other people's shortcomings. I don't really blame you there but when it comes to call someone a hypocrite, me thinks you need to stuff a sock in it. It's funny to me cause then you tend to turn around and say "Oh gee, I didn't mean to offend!". If you're going to be a jerk and talk big, stick with it. No apologies. Pick one personality and run with it.
