Rush Trailer: Chris Hemsworth Lives Life in the Fast Lane

"The closer you are to death, the more alive you feel," proclaims Chris Hemsworth in the trailer for Rush. He stars as James Hunt, the dashing English racer who ruled the high-speed European track in the 1970s. Ron Howard is behind the camera depicting Hunt's rivalry with Niki Lauda (Daniel Brühl), the Austrian driver whose run in the 1976 German Grand Prix resulted in a coma, while Hunt took the gold home. The story doesn't end there — Lauda recovers, his crash only sparking the competition between Hunt and himself. Olivia Wilde also stars as Hunt's wife.

Am I the only one with goosebumps? Howard is a reliably good director, and it appears he's giving the delicate story a tender and honest tone. I'm also impressed with Hemsworth, who we mostly know as Thor, and it's refreshing to see him out of the armor. The movie opens Sept. 20, and until then, watch the trailer after the jump.

The stars held hands leaving a church and shared a kiss in front of a large crowd while being showered with white flowers. The '70s racing drama, directed by Ron Howard, tells the story of British racing legend James Hunt, his supermodel wife Suzy Miller, and the aftermath of her affair with Richard Burton.

Olivia made a beauty transformation for the role and debuted a blonder look, while Chris has been rocking a similar shade. His long flowing locks will also be on display in his next big-screen release, The Avengers, when he returns to fighting evil as Thor. In real life, Chris has been married to Elsa Pataky for over two years, and they are expecting their first child together later this year.

Chris Hemsworth brushed his dirty blond locks behind his ear and prepped for an intense scene on the London set of Rush yesterday. The Ron Howard directed film is based on the true story of Formula 1 champ Niki Lauda and the 1976 crash that almost took his life. Chris portrays the role of Lauda's racing rival, James Hunt. Ron was lucky to get Chris on the project before he's called back to duty with The Avengers crew. Chris resumes his role as superhero Thor in the upcoming release, due out May 4, and it seems fans are eager to get a glimpse of their favorite Marvel superheroes together in one place. The Avengers trailer broke iTunes download records and was apparently viewed 13.7 million times in its first 24 hours of release. The blockbuster mania continues throughout June for Chris when he pops up on the big screen again, opposite Kristen Stewart, in the highly anticipated dark fairy tale, Snow White and the Huntsman.
