Marchesa's Georgina Chapman Teams Up With the NFL For a Fashion Collaboration — Random or Totally Awesome?

Marchesa's Georgina Chapman might be known for her gorgeous, ultradecadent gowns, but come Fall, get ready to see the designer's sportier side.

Marchesa's Georgina Chapman might be known for her gorgeous, ultradecadent gowns, but come Fall, get ready to see the designer's sportier side. Georgina Chapman has teamed with the NFL to design a limited-edition collection of t-shirts for the league debuting at the New York Giants/Dallas Cowboys season opener game (sometime around Sept. 5). It's a definite departure from the tulle and sequin-embroidered confections we're used to seeing from Chapman, but with the industry's current obsession with sport chic designs, maybe it's not so random after all? Details on pricing or styles are still under wraps, but tell us what you think: are you excited about Georgina's upcoming fashion collaboration with the NFL?

NFL Players Need Personal Finance Help, Too

Although NFL players have salaries that range from a minimum of $325,000 to $25.5 million and beyond, they desperately need financial tips, because a lot of them are living paycheck to paycheck.

Although NFL players have salaries that range from a minimum of $325,000 to $25.5 million and beyond, they desperately need financial tips, because a lot of them are living paycheck to paycheck. The NFL players are currently in negotiations for their salary, so in the spirit of the Friday deadline, in which the bargaining must come to an agreement, the NLF Players Association issued a 64-page personal finance manual, USA Today reports. The advice includes everything from the practical "save 25 percent of your salary" to the absurd. Here are some of the funny ones:

  • Socialize "with a purpose." For example, it's OK to spend when you're networking to prep yourself for life after football.
  • Never "pay friends to perform work that you can easily do." Seriously, it's not that hard to reply your own emails or text girls.
  • When you're hitting up the clubs, make sure to "leave the club with your wallet and budget intact." Being drunk is not an excuse for popping too many Cristal bottles or misplacing your Louis Vuitton wallet.
  • When pals and family ask you for money, reply "no" or "not now." Just because you are raking in the dough doesn't mean you have to become the Bank of America for your entire family.

NFL Wives Try to Decrease the Odds of Infidelity

While some married women browse adultery dating sites looking for a part-time affair, wives of NFL players are attempting to protect their marriages from infidelity.

While some married women browse adultery dating sites looking for a part-time affair, wives of NFL players are attempting to protect their marriages from infidelity. Three wives have created a business, called Off the Market, which sets up invitation-only events for NFL couples intended to help them socialize together while on the road and reinforce their commitment to a fun, healthy, sexy — and faithful relationship.

It will be an uphill battle. Marriages involving a professional athlete have a losing record, and experts blame ego and opportunities. One sports psychologist told ABC News that women know what they're getting into: "The husband isn't going to be home for six months and he's going to be fawned and fussed upon." He continued, "If you drive a car 50,000 miles a year, you are going to have more accidents."

Nonetheless, the Off the Market women are still planning couples retreats and offering advice to spouses on their Facebook page. Some of the latest advice: "Cater to your mate's pleasures and desires, be it fried chicken or a foot massage."

What You Can Learn From NFL Stars

What's not to love about football season?

What's not to love about football season? Burgers on the grill, chips and dip, and all the crudité you can imagine. Oh, and whatever game is on TV. I may not be the hugest football fan, but I have to admire the fitness discipline of professional athletes. Even if you don't know your first-and-tens from your field goals, here are some fitness lessons you can learn from those modern-day gladiators.

Conditioning is important: Of course, those NFL'ers don't just roll out of bed and onto the field. Maintaining peak physical performance means developing a routine and sticking to it, but varying your workout enough so you keep seeing results.
  • Protect that brain: Sporting a helmet on your bike ride is a no-brainer, but don't forget to protect your greatest asset by eating the right kind of brain food, like brazil nuts, avocados, and blueberries.
  • Teamwork is key: Jocks value the importance of being on a team, so start your own by getting some workout buddies. They're good at motivating you, they can teach you some things, and unlike on a football field, the encouraging butt tap is optional.
  • The right gear is essential: You may not be sporting a number on your back, but your workout uniform should have you performing at your best. Find what works for you to keep you supported in all the right places, sweat-free, and safer from injuries.
  • Timing is everything: In football, those last few seconds on the clock can sometimes mean the difference between a Gatorade shower or a dejected march to the locker room. Get that winning feeling the same way by shaving seconds off your personal best or increasing your running time or goal miles.

NFL-Themed Stuffed French Toast: Love It or Hate It?

Tailgating is one way to gear up for this year's football season.

Tailgating is one way to gear up for this year's football season. Another? Celebrating at IHOP. Eat Me Daily has pointed out that the pancake chain has teamed up with the NFL to offer "the ultimate fan fuel for football enthusiasts": football-shaped stuffed French toast. There's a cream-stuffed cinnamon raisin French toast with strawberry topping for AFC fans, and a blueberry compote counterpart for NFC fans. How did football fans ever live without cheesiness?

Search For Missing NFL Boaters Cost $1.6 Million

You can't put a price on the joy that comes from rescuing a loved one swept away at sea, but you can calculate how much it costs the taxpayers.

You can't put a price on the joy that comes from rescuing a loved one swept away at sea, but you can calculate how much it costs the taxpayers.

After four football players went missing in the Gulf of Mexico, the US Coast Guard spent three days searching 20,000 square miles. One man was rescued, but tragically the three others are presumed dead. The cost to the Coast Guard? $1.6 million.

If the boaters had carried an EPIRB (emergency position indicating radio beacon), there may have been less need for the pricey fuel, high-powered aircraft, two Jayhawk helicopters, and other expensive vessels.

Is any price ever too much for a government-funded search and rescue? I don't think so. But, maybe we can start by making EPIRB devices mandatory for everyone's benefit, especially the boaters'.

How You Can Avoid Tom Brady's ACL Injury

You may or may not be a football fan, but chances are high you've heard of Tom Brady, the boyfriend of supermodel Gisele Bundchen.

You may or may not be a football fan, but chances are high you've heard of Tom Brady, the boyfriend of supermodel Gisele Bundchen. In his first game of the season, Brady, the quarterback for the New England Patriots, limped off the field, and folks are speculating that he's torn his ACL. An MRI will help determine the diagnosis and extent of his injury.

One of the most commonly injured ligaments, ACL stands for anterior cruciate ligament. It's one of the four major ligaments that connect the bones in the knee joint. A torn ACL is a serious injury that often requires surgery followed by a lengthy recovery period. While accidents happen, like random tackles, there are some preventative measures you can take to avoid this injury:

  • Before moving right into an intense workout, always warm up your muscles first for at least 5 to 10 minutes. Low impact activity like walking is a great way to warm up.
  • When exercising, try to keep your motions smooth. Turning directions quickly or coming to an abrupt stop can result in a torn ACL.
  • Spend time strengthening the muscles surrounding your knees including your quads, shins, calves, and hamstrings. This will increase stability in your knee. Lunges, squats, walking up stairs, or doing exercises with dumbbells are great to work into your routine.

Unlike all those other amateurs, this streaker had a plan. Dressing like a referee got him onto the field and those seamless pants allowed plenty of room to conceal his game ready g-string. From the looks of it, I guess you could say he's a "big" football fan...

Want a Bottle of Dirt? How About Perspiration?

If you're an NFL fan — specifically a Seattle Seahawks one — or a fan of weird flavor experiences, then you better get your credit card out right now.

If you're an NFL fan — specifically a Seattle Seahawks one — or a fan of weird flavor experiences, then you better get your credit card out right now. Seattle based Jones Soda Co. is releasing a limited edition box set of sodas created specifically for the Seattle Seahawks. The box, which contains five flavors (Dirt, Sports Cream, Perspiration, Natural Field Turf, and Sweet Victory), will be available online for $19.95 plus shipping. They're taking online pre-orders now, and the sodas will be available in select stores.

If these flavors are anything like their purposely wretched Holiday Editions, then we're all in for a special treat.

Jones Soda spokesperson Clare Bowles told Business Week that the four literally named flavors are "pretty lifelike," while the Sweet Victory one tastes like berries. Bowles adds: "Perspiration Soda is kind of salty tasting."

Ugh, I am totally repulsed, and yet strangely, I want to know where I can pick up a box of my own...
