French Start Kissing and Telling Like Americans and Brits

Michelle "Bombshell" McGee, Jaimee Grubbs, Rielle Hunter, or Ashley Dupre would never exist in France — or would they?

Michelle "Bombshell" McGee, Jaimee Grubbs, Rielle Hunter, or Ashley Dupre would never exist in France — or would they? The French press has traditionally passed on tell-all sex stories, vehemently believing that such smut diminishes the profession of journalists. But times they are a changing.

For what appears to be the first time, a French publication has published a kiss-and-tell item. Paris Match ran an interview this week with an escort who allegedly slept with three soccer players of France's national team. She disclosed details including the fact that she charged as much as $2,500 a night (word is she got over $100,000 for sharing such details).

One member of the French press summed up the old guard's view: "It is the first time I have seen this here. It means we have turned a corner and we are on the slippery slope towards Anglo-Saxon customs. It’s sad but I think it’s irreversible.” It's hard to argue that such stories aren't part of our "customs" in the US. Kiss and tell sure sells well around here lately.

Nerds Gone Wild: Love Triangle Uncovered at the White House

White House Budget Director and DC "hottie" (he's not quite my type) Peter Orszag is making headlines for a mild sex scandal.

White House Budget Director and DC "hottie" (he's not quite my type) Peter Orszag is making headlines for a mild sex scandal. Peter's whirlwind romance with ABC reporter Bianna Golodryga made headlines when he proposed to her after seven months of dating. But that wasn't the whole story. The public has now discovered that Peter left his previous girlfriend — shipping heiress Claire Milonas — when she was pregnant. Claire gave birth in November, weeks before Peter popped the question to Bianna. As Jon Stewart describes it, the whole thing is a "tale of one man's insatiable sex drive and the beautiful women who succumb to his magnetic machismo." Watch Jon have at Peter on last night's Daily Show.

Would You Read Jenny Sanford's Book?

We've already heard disappearing governor Mark Sanford's version of his affair, in the form of a meandering and embarrassing press conference about his soul mate in Argentina.

We've already heard disappearing governor Mark Sanford's version of his affair, in the form of a meandering and embarrassing press conference about his soul mate in Argentina. Now it's his soon-to-be ex-wife's turn to share "the private ordeal behind her very public betrayal." In her memoir, Staying True, Jenny Sanford will recall "her shock and anguish upon discovering that her husband was having an affair."

This isn't the first scorned wife of a politician to turn her husband's philandering into a book deal. Elizabeth Edwards is the most recent example, but unlike Elizabeth, Jenny has decided against sticking by her man. Instead she's filed for divorce, a fact that might make her tale a little more compelling. Since the early days of the scandal, when Jenny refused to cover for her husband while he was MIA in Argentina, she's shown an unwillingness to play the typical role of the dutiful political spouse. The book will be released Feb. 5. Will you pick it up?

A dubious honor but befitting the man who mysteriously crashed his car on Thanksgiving only to bring a whole lot of skeletons out of the trunk. Well, no, that would be a whole other scandal!

We've lost count of how many women have come forward to say they've slept with Tiger, but he's taking a timeout from golf and the future of his marriage remains uncertain. I bet 2010 can't come soon enough!

What Is the Most Shocking Sex Scandal of 2009?

The year in sex scandals started off quietly, but Spring heated up to Summer and secret affairs started to sweat.

The year in sex scandals started off quietly, but Spring heated up to Summer and secret affairs started to sweat. In May, Jon Gosselin went from doting dad to cheating husband — what he became in the months that followed is a whole other category! Then topless photos of Miss California, Carrie Prejean, surfaced and put her into the spotlight long enough to be dethroned, though not officially for the photos. Only a week later, our attention was diverted to South Carolina where state officials were posting fliers for its lost governor, Mark Sanford. He was in Argentina with his lover. Always the last place you look! Over in Italy, Prime Minister Berlusconi confessed he was "no saint."

Eric Dane got in on the beauty-queen drama when a naked tape appeared of him, his wife Rebecca Gayheart, and former Miss Teen USA Kari Ann Peniche. And David Letterman and ESPN sports analyst Steve Phillips got caught working one too many late nights. We thought the year in scandal was over until Tiger Woods crashed his car into a fire hydrant near his home last week, allegedly after a fight with his wife over an affair. And now at least two women have come forward to say they played a round or two with Tiger. Rwwwar!

Serial Cheaters: Sex Addicts or Just Jerks?

I'm not a big sports fan, but I sure did hear about the big scandal with ESPN sports analyst Steve Phillips.

I'm not a big sports fan, but I sure did hear about the big scandal with ESPN sports analyst Steve Phillips. He cheated on his wife with a young production assistant who became unhinged, messed with his family, and the result, not surprisingly, is that he lost his job, and his wife has filed for divorce.

Now that Phillips's life is in a shambles, he's checked into a rehab clinic for sex addiction. People are divided on whether or not this is a real affliction. Some say it's just a way for serial cheaters to hide their sociopathic behavior under a rubric — addiction — that may garner more sympathy from others.

Some therapists, on the other hand, think it's on par with gambling or drug and alcohol addictions. They say that sex addicts use sex for the same reasons other addicts use their drugs: to numb emotional pain or feelings of emptiness, to feel attractive or powerful, or to engage in high-risk behavior that masks underlying depression.

What do you think about serial cheaters who subsequently claim they're sex addicts? Are they sex addicts, or just jerks?
