Django Unchained

Christoph Waltz took home an Oscar for his fantastic performance in Quentin Tarantino's hit Western. Waltz plays Dr. King Schultz, a bounty hunter who takes on a new protégé, freed slave Django (Jamie Foxx). When Django proves to be a natural at the bounty-hunting business, Schultz agrees to assist him in finding his wife (Kerry Washington), who's been sold to the evil Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio). The film is definitely in keeping with Tarantino's bloody style, but it's massively entertaining. The DVD comes with a couple of featurettes and a soundtrack spot.

Save the Date

In this lightweight indie, commitment-phobe Sarah (Lizzy Caplan) breaks up with her boyfriend (Geoffrey Arend) after a very public proposal. She turns to her sister Beth (Alison Brie) for some moral support, but Beth is too busy planning her own wedding to listen. Once Sarah meets Jonathan (Mark Webber), she starts to confront her issues with relationships and vulnerability. Like its characters, Save the Date is flawed, but enjoyable to watch.

Clever Ways to Save the Date

In the history of wedding traditions, save the dates are relatively new.

In the history of wedding traditions, save the dates are relatively new. But since invitations are typically mailed just six weeks before the big day and guests need to make travel arrangements, these wedding date reminders come in handy, mailed at least six months prior. Plus, they're a good excuse to do something clever and fun amid the sometimes boring, often stressful wedding hubbub. Here are some nontraditional ways to save the date.

Movie Trailers

Save the Date Trailer: Lizzy Caplan Isn't Rushing to the Altar

You may have to wait a little while longer to see Alison Brie and her Community castmates on the small screen again, but you can catch a glimpse of the TV star right now in the trailer for her next big-screen endeavor, Save the Date.

You may have to wait a little while longer to see Alison Brie and her Community castmates on the small screen again, but you can catch a glimpse of the TV star right now in the trailer for her next big-screen endeavor, Save the Date. Brie and Lizzy Caplan play Beth and Sarah, sisters with distinctively different attitudes toward marriage. While Beth is engaged and looking forward to her wedding with her fiancé (Martin Starr), Sarah freaks out when her boyfriend (Geoffrey Arend) tries to take their relationship to the next level. Sarah rebounds into the arms of a very cute new guy (Mark Webber), but she's not necessarily more content.

I love just about every person in this cast, especially Brie and Caplan, and I also like the fact that we'll get to see multiple perspectives on the matter of marriage since the sisters are so different. Save the Date looks bittersweet without being too cynical, and if the trailer is any indication, the soundtrack is awesome. The movie was well-received earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival, but you'll get to see it for yourself when it comes to theaters on Dec. 14. Watch the trailer and let us know what you think after the jump.

Alison Brie on Wedding Movies and the Possible End of Community

You probably recognize the adorable Alison Brie from her TV roles on Mad Men and Community, but the star was at the Sundance Film Festival this year to promote her new movie Save the Date.

You probably recognize the adorable Alison Brie from her TV roles on Mad Men and Community, but the star was at the Sundance Film Festival this year to promote her new movie Save the Date. We sat down with the actress to talk about the film and her other wedding movie, The Five-Year Engagement. Though Brie kept mum about what we can expect from season five of Mad Men, she did give us an idea of how Community could come to an end, should this be the final season. Watch!

Faux Movie Trailer as Save the Date — Love It or Leave It?

Jeff and Erin plan to get married on the eve of 10-10-10, so they put together a save the date announcement that's just as epic as their wedding date.

Jeff and Erin plan to get married on the eve of 10-10-10, so they put together a save the date announcement that's just as epic as their wedding date. Actually, it's nothing like any save the date I've ever received — it's a movie trailer! Featuring Jeff and Erin, as well as slow-motion flashbacks, an appropriate soundtrack, simulated explosives, and an Indiana Jones reference, this preview about a true story of love, family, and friendship got me pretty excited for the actual wedding. (Too bad we're all not invited.) But this sort of self-indulging and time-consuming production might not be your thing. What do you make of it?

Update: The video has been marked private! If you didn't get a chance to see it, know that Jeff and Erin personally acted out their love story in a four-minute movie trailer spoof, using special effects, a professional voice over, and flashback montages.
