How to Update the Smoky Eye For Fall

The smoky eye is getting a makeover this Fall. Gone are the days of the monotone black shadow covering the lids. Now, this makeup staple is coming in new colors and shapes. Get tips for creating these smoky eye looks from the runways whether it's winged, under-eye, or highbrow.
Up and away: As seen on the Versace runway, the smoky eye is getting a tilt this season. While winged eyeliner is an ever-present trend, extended eye shadow shapes are becoming more prominent, too. To get this look, bring shadow from the crease to the end of the brows. Then curve the end back around to line the lower lashes.
From down under: Shadow is no longer just for your lids. Colors (and the smoky eye) are bleeding down underneath the eye, as at L'Wren Scott. The key to mastering this under-eye technique is to use waterproof products to avoid smudging or smearing. Apply product with an angled brush so that your liner doesn't turn out too thick.
Highbrow: Burberry sent a brown smoky eye down the runway, which is a black alternative for Fall. And this color reached all the way up to the brows for a full patch effect. If you're looking to get a similar style, blend color up above the crease. Leave just under the arch clear for a spot of highlighter.

Givenchy's Spring 2013 collection was not only super feminine and romantic, but also completely wearable. Riccardo Tisci made sure to pay homage to his Catholic roots by offering up a sort of chic nun look — high-collar ruffled dresses, crisply tailored trousers and suit jackets, and bold, billowing sleeves all punctuated the collection and fused classic ethereal stylings with the modern woman's wardrobe. Karlie Kloss Is Clearly the Star of Anna Sui's Rocker-Cool Runway Show
Anna Sui was certainly smart to "bookend" her runway show with none other than Karlie Kloss — the designer's decidedly rock 'n' roll Spring '13 collection got a gorgeous lift from the Chicago-born beauty, who opened and closed the production. Anna dressed her models in vintage-inspired slipdresses, zippered jumpsuits, and lace minis and accented each look with a colorful pixie-cut wig — something we've come to expect from the bohemian-cool designer. Michael Kors's Colorful Take on Spring Will Make You Smile (Promise)
Michael Kors aims to please, and with Spring 2013, we're positive you'll be a happy camper. We think front-row starlets Camilla Belle, Katharine McPhee, and Marisa Tomei would agree, too. Kors took a sporty-meets-classic approach, and with it, a bevy of mod prints attached to versatile silhouettes came marching out. It's all about bold primary colors, a healthy dose of stripes, clean lines, and more wearable (read: covetable) pieces than you'll know what to do with. Be sure to stick around for the final set of runway looks, as gorgeous black gowns (some with even sexier bodice cutouts) make a welcome appearance. It's definitely worth the watch.

Natural surroundings served as the inspiration for Donna Karan, but what resulted for Spring 2013 was an ethereal lineup of draped, light-as-air dresses. Finished in sea-inspired hues, like pale blues and aqua greens (one cutout sheath actually resembling a sea creature unto itself) and earthier neutrals, Karan's collection seemed to float effortlessly down the runway.
