In Rielle Hunter's new memoir about her affair with former presidential candidate John Edwards, she alluded to the fact that she's still in a romantic relationship with the father of her daughter, Quinn. But this morning on Good Morning America she admitted that the publicity (brought on by her book) and media scrutiny caused complications in their relationship. She says on the show, "As of the end of last week we are no longer a couple." Rielle also opens up about whether or not she looks back on the affair as a mistake, contradicting herself as she says, "Would I do that again? No way," before adding, "I don't regret loving him." Watch the interview now.
Rielle Hunter on the Time She Got Pregnant With John Edwards's Child
Rielle Hunter went on 20/20 last Friday to discuss her new book all about her infamous affair with former senator and presidential candidate John Edwards. At one point, Rielle talked about what happened when she found out — in the midst of the 2008 presidential campaign — that she was pregnant with the politician's baby. Rielle and John never used birth control, and athough John was married to Elizabeth Edwards, who was battling cancer, and running for president at the time, Rielle called the pregnancy "the best surprise ever." Watch Rielle recount the experience, and see how John reacted (he renewed his vows with Elizabeth) now.
Surprising Confessions From Rielle Hunter's Memoir About Edwards Affair

After John Edwards was recently acquitted on violating campaign finance rules and having five more criminal counts dropped, his mistress and baby mama, Rielle Hunter, shares her side of the story about her infamous affair with the former presidential candidate in her memoir out June 26. In the book, titled What Really Happened: John Edwards, Our Daughter, and Me, Rielle makes some surprising confessions about her relationship with "Johnny" and her feelings toward his late wife, Elizabeth, who was dying of cancer at the time of the affair. If you're intrigued by the tell-all but aren't sure you'll actually read it, here are some of the juicy tidbits from Rielle Hunter's memoir:
- John didn't come clean about his other affairs to Rielle until 2011, which included at least two other women as far back as 20 years ago.
- John actually lied to her about having more mistresses than he actually had to keep her from getting attached.
- She calls Elizabeth a "witch on wheels" in the book and claims she harassed her and physically abused John.
- After Elizabeth discovered the truth about the affairs at the end of 2006, she called Rielle from John's phone, and when Rielle answered with "Hey, baby," Elizabeth hung up.
- To keep suspicion off of John when she was pregnant, she agreed to let his aide Andrew Young claim paternity of the child, and she even lived with Andrew's wife and children. She writes that this lie is the thing she regrets the most in regards to her relationship with John.
- Rielle and John filmed a sex tape in Uganda that Andrew tried to sell.
- In 2008, John admitted to the affair with Rielle but not to Quinn being his daughter. Rielle writes that he must have been "temporarily insane" to not cop to being the father of their baby.
- She alludes to them still having a romantic relationship, writing, "I really have no idea what will happen with us. The jury is still out. But I can honestly say that the ending is of no concern to me anymore. The love is here. And as sappy as it may sound, I love living in love."
And stay tuned for even more details when Rielle is interviewed on 20/20 this Friday.
Baby Shifted Rielle Hunter and John Edwards's Relationship
Last month, Rielle Hunter posed suggestively in GQ, and today, the self-described "private" woman's chat with Oprah aired. When the talk show queen inquired as to how Hunter could stand by John Edwards when he renewed his wedding vows with his wife Elizabeth, Hunter admitted she was hurt. She said:
"No. I didn't get out. I was pregnant. Now he's turned into the father of my child. He's no longer the married boyfriend. He is now the father of my child and that shifts you. That changes things."
Are you lenient with your baby's father because he has biological ties to your child?
Rielle Hunter: I'm Not a Homewrecker — Well Said or Say What?
We typically present quotes here that either make us think "say what?" when they're outrageous, or "well said" when they speak the truth. But we just came across one that stumps us. Speaking on Oprah today, John Edwards's infamous mistress Rielle Hunter said she's not a homewrecker. Here's the quote:
"It’s not my experience that a third party can wreck a home. A home is wrecked before a third party comes into the picture."

Do John Edwards' Actions Make Him Less of a Daddy?
To say that John Edwards surrounded himself by loyal women is an understatement. He recently added one more to the mix by acknowledging his paternity of 2-year-old daughter Quinn with Rielle Hunter. The former vice presidential candidate who rode largely on the ticket of being a "family man" had the public support of both his wife and mistress when news of the love child surfaced. Elizabeth Edwards went so far as to say that she creates a picture of him for their three children — Cate, Emma Claire and Jack. The couple has since separated.
Now, in a recent and eye-opening interview with GQ, Rielle Hunter (who John initially denied involvement with) is singing his praises as she speaks out for the first time. When asked why she remained silent until now, Rielle said:
I feel comfortable talking now, because Johnny went public and made a statement admitting paternity. I didn't feel like I could ever speak until he did that. Because had I spoken, I would have emasculated him. And I could not emasculate him. Also, it is not my desire to teach my daughter that when Mommy's upset with Daddy, you take matters into your own hands and fix Daddy's mistakes. Which I view as one of the biggest problems in all female-and-male relationships.
Despite the chaos of the last few years, Rielle is committed to loving John. This begs the question does a man's actions (however dishonorable), affect his abilities as a dad?

Rielle Hunter Shares Her Real Love For Johnny Edwards in GQ

In her photos shoot with GQ, John Edwards' ex-mistress Rielle Hunter scandalizes purple dinosaur Barney who appears to catch a glance of her underwear. While Rielle told Barbara Walters this morning that she was "repulsed" by the photos GQ ran, the words that came out of her mouth during the interview with the magazine only confirm her questionable judgment. Referring to John Edwards as "Johnny" throughout, she uses her experience to offer relationship-advice gems. Some highlights:
- On Elizabeth: I watched my father die of cancer. It's heart-wrenching to me. But it's also sad to me, her unwillingness to take responsibility for her part in the marriage. And her unwillingness to face the truth. We're all slaves to our unconscious, but she really believes that it's everyone else's fault.
- On female-male relationships: Had I spoken, I would have emasculated him. And I could not emasculate him. Also, it is not my desire to teach my daughter that when Mommy's upset with Daddy, you take matters into your own hands and fix Daddy's mistakes. Which I view as one of the biggest problems in all female-and-male relationships.
- On knowing it was special the first night: He in fact did say to me the first night, "Falling in love with you could really f*ck up my plans for becoming President." And of course I said, "If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans."
- On the man's role: He drives our relationship. He's the man. [laughs] He's in the driver's seat.
I'm sure Elizabeth Edwards is pleased, no?

John Edwards and Family Are Back in the Headlines
John Edwards admitted to having an affair last August, assuring that his invitation to the Democratic Convention got lost in the mail, and that the National Enquirer would get off his case. But it doesn't seem that all the Edwards want to let the story go away. John's wife, Elizabeth, is set to release Resilience: Reflections on the Burdens and Gifts of Facing Life's Adversities, a self-help book that will reflect on her struggle with losing a son, battling cancer, and confronting her husband's infidelity.
The other woman, Rielle Hunter, hasn't given interviews, or asserted publicly that her daughter Frances Quinn is John Edward's daughter — although in her first birthday picture, Frances looks more than a little like Edwards. In his "I'm sorry" interview, John said he knew he wasn't the father, based on the timing of the the affair.
Since Elizabeth seems willing to share her experience, do you have any interest in knowing the details of the affair from either John, Elizabeth, or Rielle?
