How to Look Like a Celeb at Your Own Pregnancy Photo Shoot

Jessica Simpson did it well.

Jessica Simpson did it well. So did Demi, Britney, and Cindy, but could you pull off a naked pregnant photo shoot? Absolutely, as long as you follow the tips we scored from Chicago photographer Maria Ponce, who's turned shooting pregnant noncelebrities into a beautiful art form.

I was lucky enough to score a session with Maria during my pregnancy (that's me, seven months pregnant with my daughter, on the right). At first, I was skeptical about the idea. Did I really want to commemorate my pregnancy experience? I had gained almost 40 pounds, had pregnancy acne, and felt terrible — why would I want a permanent record of that? But Maria talked me through the shoot, and in the end, it ended up being one of the best experiences of my pregnancy. Seeing my big-bellied self through Maria's lens made me feel like one of those powerful, beautiful pregnant women — not like the schlumpy, yoga-pant wearing, miserable prego who could barely walk around the block without Braxton Hicks contractions forcing me home that I really was.

Now, a year after giving birth, I've (almost) forgotten about how huge and uncomfortable I felt, and I'm happily left with those superwoman photos, which are just inspiring enough to tempt me to do it all over again. I highly recommend a pregnancy photo shoot, and Maria has some great tips on how to make it a success. Keep reading to get the most of your pregnancy photo shoot, and get ready to bring out your inner, belly exalting Jessica Simpson in the (near) buff.

Jessica Simpson Strikes a Demi: 11 Stars Who've Posed Naked and Pregnant

Jessica Simpson's pulling a Demi!

Jessica Simpson's pulling a Demi! Twenty-one years ago, Demi Moore posed pregnant for her then-controversial and now iconic Vanity Fair cover — revealing her naked, 7-month-pregnant belly to the world. Jessica Simpson has now repeated the famous shot on the cover of the April issue of Elle. Earlier this morning, the expectant mama tweeted, "My Elle cover comes out today!! I'm a lil nervous but I've never felt more beautiful or empowered. I hope you like it!!!" She also revealed that she is expecting a baby girl!

A host of beautiful models, TV hosts, and pop stars have taken turns showing off their burgeoning bellies and striking copycat poses to the 1991 original, but Demi still owns it. The actress is 49, and her daughters are nearly grown, but every time a naked pregnancy cover hits stands, we are reminded of the stunning one that paved the way. Check out the other stars that have gone the naked-pregnant-cover-model route and tell us if you think any of the pictures compare to Demi's maternal in-the-buff debut?

PETA Plans to Launch Porn Site to Promote Veganism

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is no stranger to using sex appeal to get people's attention.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is no stranger to using sex appeal to get people's attention. In the past, the vegan activist group has used images of nude celebs, like Alicia Silverstone, in ads to convince people to give up meat, but now PETA is taking this tactic one giant step further. The animal rights' group plans to launch a pornographic website to promote its message about going vegan.

According to PETA spokeswoman Lindsay Rajt, the new website, peta.xxx, will feature "tantalizing" videos and photographs to get its animal rights messages across. Unfortunately, PETA has discovered that its racier ads and actions work best, and it's a surefire "way to get people to stand up and pay attention about the plight of animals."

November is the earliest that PETA can get approval for this controversial site, so don't try to visit the above address just yet (I don't blame you for being curious!). Critics think this is a bad move for PETA. Sure, it may get people's attention at first, but not the ones who care about animals. This new website could end up offending a lot of people who would otherwise love to hear about the ethical and health-related reasons people should go vegan. What do you think?

Marilyn Monroe

How Marilyn Monroe Handled Her Nude Photo Scandal

Whether or not the nude photos making the rounds on the Internet are actually Blake Lively (she says they're 100 percent fake), the young actress can take solace in the fact that similar scandals have rocked past glamorous superstars, including Marilyn Monroe.

Whether or not the nude photos making the rounds on the Internet are actually Blake Lively (she says they're 100 percent fake), the young actress can take solace in the fact that similar scandals have rocked past glamorous superstars, including Marilyn Monroe.

Even before the days of iPhone cameras, sexting, and computer hackers, naked snapshots of the bombshell captured the public's attention in 1952 when they were featured in a calendar, and later in the inaugural issue of Playboy. Everyone speculated that the woman looked an awful lot like Marilyn, and as her movie studio contemplated how to deal with the crisis she suggested she admit she posed for the prefame photos in 1949 for $50. So Marilyn gave an interview in which she copped to going nude for the camera because she needed the money to pay her rent. Suddenly the former struggling actress was sexy and sympathetic.

Marilyn's response may be a PR lesson for today's starlets. She admitted that the photos were of her, while leveraging them to further her career. And she owned the heightened sex appeal they brought her, famously responding to a reporter's question about what she wears to bed with this cheeky answer: "Why, Chanel No. 5, of course."

How Long Must Women Wait For Their NSFW Photos to Be Adorable?

Have you had your nude pictures taken yet?

Have you had your nude pictures taken yet? I for one am creating a short list of photographers whose results I'll put in a time capsule marked "Do not open until Christmas 2060." The pin-up photos of Betty White that surfaced have been called "adorable," and I don't really disagree! Maybe it's because they're from a more innocent time, when nude photos were less raunchy, or maybe Betty White just has that effect on people. I'd say it's a bit of both, but it also has to do with age.

Once a woman reaches a certain age, and I'm thinking 80, it becomes completely adorable that she was once hot. Have you ever seen a picture of your grandmother in her prime (maybe wearing more clothes?) and found it amazing that the loving woman you know as "Grandma" or "Nana" was once sexy? I suppose it's just the juxtaposition between sweet, old woman and young, sexpot that induces those "awww"s. But now I can't tell — is it adorable or just another insult to older women?

What Possesses People to Send Nude Pics? Find Out!

This week I asked what on earth would possess a person to send a nude photo to someone — and readers gave me tons of sexy and surprising answers.

This week I asked what on earth would possess a person to send a nude photo to someone — and readers gave me tons of sexy and surprising answers. One thing I learned: if you're smart, you don't include your face! Here are some of the best explanations.

  • It's a turn-on: "It turns me on to know I'm turning him on. I love receiving one's from him too. I feel a connection to him and I think it keeps things going quite nicely."
  • To feel empowered: "I've done it. It can feel quite empowering with the right person. Once I was let down but that's life! In the summer I use naturist beaches and several beach friends from my secret beach have beach shots. They are just like normal holiday pics minus clothes!"
  • To keep things interesting: "In my opinion it's one (of the many things) that keeps the relationship so fun. When I don't get to see him for a few days it makes me anxious to get my hands on him."
  • You made a mistake: "No matter how many times I go over it in my head, I can't understand what really made me do it. But it comes down to this: Everyone makes mistakes, some worse than others because they stick around forever like nude photos, but it helps broaden your empathy for people who fall into things they promised themselves they'd never do."
  • You've been drinking: "I recently sent a rather suggestive one to a friend while I was out drinking . . . completely covered (just cleavage), but probably not something I should have done."
  • Why not?: "I'll never be famous. And if I am someday, I'm sexy and it's not taboo anymore to have nude pics floating around."

Carla Bruni Offers Another Cautionary Tale Against Racy Pics

While Carla's away, French thieves are at play.

While Carla's away, French thieves are at play.

Hundreds of intimate photos and some videos of the French first lady were stolen from the apartment of her ex-lover's brother this week. The racy images were recorded during her relationship with philosopher Raphael Enthoven, who is also the father of her son. Before she was with Raphael, she was involved with his father. But I digress.

Since her more wild days, Carla has been trying to tone down her image. Instead of taking X-rated photos, Mrs. Sarkozy is now photographed fully clothed (in designer digs) on official state visits. But this isn't the first time the public has been reminded of her risqué past. Last year a photographer released nude photos of the first lady.

Have you ever taken naughty pictures or video and had it come back to haunt you?
