Patrick Adam's role as Mike Ross on Suits earned him a SAG Award nomination last year, and the actor stopped by PopSugar's LA studio to talk about what's ahead for Mike's messy love life and increasingly precarious career on season two of his USA series. He also divulged a story about a part he took in an effort to romance his now girlfriend, Pretty Little Liars star Troian Bellisario, and talked about his close friendship with his Suits costar Gabriel Macht. Suits returns to USA tonight at 10:00/9:00 CT.

Dustin Hoffman Heads to the Races in HBO's Luck Trailer
A couple of actors with impressive track records are off to the tracks in HBO's new drama about horse racing, Luck. The network has revealed its first look at the series, and those seeking a feel-good show about the sport in the style of Seabiscuit should probably look elsewhere. The drama reveals the gritty underworld of gambling revolving around the sport, with Dustin Hoffman starring as Ace Bernestein, a man who is back on the streets after three years in prison.
I'm not into horse racing by any means, but I'm curious to see Academy Award winner Hoffman on the small screen — and to learn more details behind what is sure to be his sketchy backstory. Nick Nolte also stars, and HBO alum David Milch (Deadwood) wrote the pilot episode with Michael Mann directing. Luck is set to premiere in January, but you can get a better feel for the series when you watch the trailer
Do You Believe People Make Their Own Luck?
Some people just seem to have everything fall into their lap. Perhaps they're lucky, or maybe they just made smart decisions. Richard Wiseman, a famous psychologist from the UK, argues that people actually create their own luck. The difference between unlucky and fortunate people, he says, is that lucky people are open to possibility and are observant.
"We are traditionally taught to be really focused, to be really driven, to try really hard at tasks. But in the real world, you've got opportunities all around you. And if you're driven in one direction, you're not going to spot the others. It's about getting people to have various game plans running in their heads," Wiseman says.
Maybe the girl who seems to have everything — dream job, life, friends, and love — was smart about positioning herself for the "luck" to happen. What's your take on this? Do you think people make their own luck?
Do You Think You Have a Chance at Winning the Lottery?
We read about lottery winners all the time, and reading their personal stories almost makes winning millions of bucks seem like a possibility. I've always considered myself a pretty lucky person, and yes, I do buy lottery tickets occasionally. Even though odds are stacked up against me, I can't help feeling that I might actually win the million dollar jackpot each time I purchase a ticket. What about you — do you think you have a chance at winning the lottery, or is it a lost cause?
Why I Don't Believe in Luck

If you've ever thought the "luck of the Irish" makes absolutely no sense — we're talking about a country where a lousy season for root vegetables caused widespread famine and mass emigration — it's because it doesn't. It's an ironic statement, and if anything the Irish are known far better for their sense of irony than their inherent luck.
That's not why I don't believe in luck, though. Luck is an adjective we attribute in hindsight; it's a way to understand and classify otherwise senseless events, good and bad. It could be said that everyone is lucky at some point and vice versa. But leaving your life to luck is like giving up your locus of control and saying you don't control your destiny.
Anyway, I don't want to dampen anyone's St. Patrick's Day spirits further, but when you hear the "luck of the Irish" tomorrow, remember its true origin. At the very least, it makes a good story — and I think telling those is very Irish!

Let's Dish: What Foods Do You Eat For Good Luck?
Maybe it was the luck of the Irish, but yesterday's festivities got me thinking about fortuitous foods. Whenever anyone in my family travels, my mother prepares a large pot of Ping An Mien, the Chinese chicken noodle soup pictured above, for safe travels. Before my friend Jaime ran her first marathon, she had to eat a certain dish at her favorite Italian restaurant for good luck, and many Southerners will tell you they can't start a new year on the right foot without black-eyed peas. Tell me, what are your lucky foods?
Do Tell: Do You Consider Yourself Lucky?
Happy St. Patty's Day, everyone! Since the four-leaf clover is one of this holiday's mascots, I thought it'd be a good time to talk about luck. While luck is really just triumph or failure determined by chance, it seems as though some people have it on their side and some don't. There are those who are typically lucky in love, lucky in their career, and lucky when it comes to taking risks, but then there are those who always seem to get the short end of the stick. Of course we all have our good days and our bad, but tell me, do you consider yourself to be lucky?
