Many people forget that models can act. Case in point: Kelly LeBrock in Weird Science. Another one of Hughes's greats, with a name and theme song from Oingo Boingo; I get cravings to watch this supernatural '80s masterpiece. Geeks Gary and Wyatt create the ultimate babe, Lisa (enter LeBrock), while donning bras on their heads, and the journey ensues. Like all of Hughes's films, WS captures the awkwardness of teens and the keen style of the '80s. But Lisa is a fox, with style to boot. Her cool jackets, distressed denim, studded boots, and lamé party dress are very in tune with fashion now. Coincidence? Yay for the John Hughes documentary, btw.
Flashback: Steven Seagal in "The Celebrity's Guide to Fine Wine"
Steven Seagal and Kelly LeBrock, the pillow-lipped model-turned-actress of Weird Science fame, filmed some really weird shorts produced by Paramount for some now-defunct show called The One Hour Presentation. Here, Steven and Kelly (while they were still married) provide a cheese-tastic instructional video on how to open a bottle of wine properly. Apparently, it involves treating it like a phallic object and pretending that you're both in a porno. (Back to LeBrock's lips, though. Angelina's got nothing on this woman!)
Flashback: 80's Pantene Commercial
Before there was Angelina Jolie and her ridiculously pillowy lips, there was Kelly LeBrock. She was an 80's supermodel who went on to star as a fembot in Weird Science and more bafflingly (is that a word?), to marry Steven Seagal. Anyway, here she is imploring us (not very convincingly) to not hate her because she's beautiful. Puh-leeze. ![]()
