At first, this looked like a classic case of he (the cat) is just not that into you (the rat). But, surprise, surprise, kitty comes around and they're best buds. Bonus points: weirdly compelling elevator music soundtrack.
Meet Tara. She lives in an animal sanctuary in Tennessee. Normally, she'd find another elephant as a BFF. That's how all the other elephants do it, anyway, "like best girlfriends," according to the woman who runs the sanctuary. But Tara? Her best friend is a stray dog (one of many who now call the sanctuary home) named Bella. They eat, drink, sleep, and play together. Even sweeter, when Bella suffered from a spinal-cord injury, Tara would not budge from her side until she was able to walk again. See for yourself folks, and I'd be surprised if you didn't shed a little tear . . .
This adorable bird is like a feathered Edward Scissorhands. He's loving, but how the heck can he caress the one he loves? Just ask this cat, who will accept being pet by ferocious claws any day. Interspecies lovin' rules.
These two are sooo ridiculously in love with one another. (Although I think the kitty may be carrying the brighter torch for the dog.) While they frolic and nuzzle, a silly Tony Bennett tune plays as soundtrack. Hilarious.
Step right up for the fight of the century — it's dog and cat wrasslin'! These two are like siblings. Plus, the cat doesn't seem to know what she wants. One minute, she's licking the dog's nose, the next, she's batting his head with her paw. Cats!

I think we may have just hit the jackpot for interspecies lovin'. Due to some hurricane aftermath, two teeny tigers had to be separated from their mother, but Anjana the chimp was more than happy to babysit. It actually sounds like the plot of a cheeseball Disney movie. But you can't argue with this cuteness! For more chimp-kitty snuggles, UK Daily Mail and The Sun have the goods.
Dogs are so patient. Gilberto here is friends with little Sosa and allows her to swat his head for fun. It kinda reminds me of that awesome video of the little kitten with the Husky. Watch and learn, people!
It's kinda hard not to worry while you're watching this that the dog is going to crush that kitty like a can, but it's as gentle as it can be. Meanwhile, the kitty seems to be ready for more. So freaking cute!
Meet Gregory Pike and his motley menagerie of cutie pies, namely, Booger the dog, Kitty the cat, and Mousey the rat. He swears that they get along because they were raised together, and not through some trick of extreme discipline or drugs or mistreatment. I want to believe! (I love when someone pets Mousey and Gregory says, "Don't knock the flea off!" Tee hee.)
