Queen Elizabeth II and her family aren't the only royals checking out the London Games. Princess Charlene of Monaco, joined by her husband, Prince Albert, showed a burst of emotion yesterday after fellow South African Chad Le Clos beat Michael Phelps for a gold medal in the men's 200m butterfly. And while British royal and equestrian athlete Zara Phillips brought home a silver medal yesterday, Charlene and Albert have an Olympic connection, too. Princess Charlene swam on South Africa's team in 2000, and Prince Albert, believe it or not, competed on his country's bobsled team at the 1988, 1992, 1994, 1998, and 2002 Winter Games.

In fact, it was the Olympics that brought these royals together. In 2000, Charlene met Albert when she traveled to Monaco for a swimming competition. They became a public couple when they stepped out together at the 2006 Winter Olympics. This year in London, Princess Charlene and her husband have cheered on Olympic swimmers and hosted an event for IOC members at the Maison de Monaco. The Prince and Princess of Monaco brought a touch of royalty to the Academy Awards in LA tonight. Charlene Whitstock and Prince Albert walked the carpet together with Charlene in a gorgeous white gown and Albert in a classic tuxedo. The couple, who were married in a lavish ceremony last June, are at the Oscars for the first time. The appearance reportedly comes ahead of a big announcement from Charlene about her new foundation for children. Prince Albert escorted his beautiful new bride, Princess Charlene of Monaco, to tonight's 63rd annual Red Cross Ball in their home of Monte Carlo. The princess stepped out in a jewel-toned Akris gown, which was a stark contrast to the classic white Armani dress she wore just last month during their lavish royal wedding. Charlene kept her hair pulled back and makeup simple to complement the stunning custom-made Van Cleef & Arpels piece she wore around her neck. The necklace was given to the princess as a gift from her husband and can also be worn as a tiara. It was reportedly designed to evoke memories of the ocean and is composed of 88 round diamonds, weighing in at over 44 total carats, with 10 pear-shaped diamonds and 359 sapphires!

Princess Charlene of Monaco was pretty in pink at the Red Cross Gala Ball today, one of the world's most famous (and pricey) balls. Joined by Prince Albert II, the royal pair follow in the footsteps of Princess Grace and Prince Rainier of Monaco when they attended the same star-studded gala in 1958. The annual event was founded in 1948 and is held at Monaco Sporting Club. The Prince and Princess of Monaco, who wore a Roberto Cavalli dress, made an appearance near home at the Oceanographic Museum yesterday to check out a new exhibit, which is devoted to their wedding. "The Story of the Prince's Wedding" features Charlene Wittstock's Giorgio Armani gown, the white uniform that Prince Albert wore, place settings from their reception, and other items from the July event. Charlene and Prince Albert have faced some controversy since their nuptials, with rumors that they spent their honeymoon in separate hotels. Prince Albert and Charlene defended their marriage recently and struck back at all the press coverage. They seemed to be in good spirits as they walked through the museum and posed in front of a large picture of themselves as bride and groom. Theirs isn't the only royal wedding on display since items from Kate Middleton and Prince William's nuptials are currently being shown at Buckingham Palace in London. Kate Middleton and the Queen toured the Summer exhibit and took a look at Kate's gorgeous gown as well as the heels she wore when she wed Prince William.

Princess Charlene joined her husband, Prince Albert, to host a private dinner party at the luxe hotel Oyster Box in Durban, South Africa, this evening. The newlyweds shared a sweet kiss as they greeted their guests on the red carpet outside the soiree, which featured a performance by Zulu dancers, as well as a dish specially created by the hotel for the event called Oysters Charlene. Prince Albert married Charlene Wittstock on Saturday in the courtyard outside the Prince's Palace. Princess Charlene wore an Armani wedding gown for the festivities, and the newlyweds capped off the day with a fireworks show and concert at Port Hercule. With Prince Albert and Princess Charlene spend some time on the continent of Africa, Prince William and Kate Middleton continue their tour of North America. They've been spending time in Canada for the past week, and on Friday, Will and Kate will touch down in the states as they get ready to spend a long weekend in California.

Princess Charlene and Prince Albert made out today in South Africa, putting their newlywed love on display for the world less than a week after their Monaco royal wedding. Charlene and Albert got dressed up for a dinner party they're hosting tonight in Durban. Feeling less like a honeymoon and more like a state visit, the royal couple also met with Jacob Zuma, the president of Charlene's home country South Africa, and his wife for lunch yesterday.

After marrying with more than 2 billion people watching, Prince William and Kate Middleton made sure to take a very private honeymoon — and not a picture of their time in the Seychelles has leaked to the public. In fact, we haven't even seen the duke and duchess kiss since they did it twice on the Buckingham Palace balcony!

Of course, William is still second in line to the British throne, while Albert is a sitting monarch with more responsibilities. Royal duties or not, are you surprised Charlene and Albert are making public appearances so soon?
