Are You Smarter Than a Vice Presidential Nominee? All eyes were on Sarah Palin last week as she sat down for her first big girl interview with ABC's Charles Gibson. It was a big moment for both her fans and her detractors, and a chance for her to prove once and for all that she has the skillz to pay the vice presidential billz. How'd she do? Opinions differ, but this humorous take on it just might bring us closer together.

I can agree that making the statement about Obama not choosing Clinton was disrespectful. However, I don't agree that just because she didn't talk about the issues you wanted her to talk about in that particular interview shows disrespect to voters. Heck, Obama hasn't talked about a lot of those issues either in any interview I've heard. If she is being disrespectful for that, then you have to claim ALL politicians are disrespectful at times.

She didn't ask which Bush Doctrine, she didn't offer to educate Gibson about the "7" Bush Doctrines. I don't care if she agrees with the Bush Doctrine, frankly, I think it's better if people don't. But Palin doesn't know what is going on NOW - why should we trust that she'll become interested after we give her a payraise?

I'm wondering which Bush doctrine we are referring to. There are at least 7. I can understand how Palin might be a little confused by that question. Honestly, does it matter if she agrees with the Bush doctrines? She isn't going to be enforcing those doctrines. I would be more concerned about whether she agrees with the McCain doctrine.

The Civil War last four years, the Cold War lasted more than four decades - so if you look at just the last few years of the Cold War, there were battles with shots fired in a number of countries. I'm glad you know what the Bush Doctrine is; Palin made it obvious she didn't in her answer. Even if 'experts' claim it has changed, Palin didn't know enough about it to even say that to Gibson's question. And she wants to be the number two person in the adminstration that takes over the war in Iraq in January.

Quite frankly, I don't see where anyone is attacking Steph. It's sad that a disagreement is now considered an attack or an assertion that someone is not entitled to her opinion.

Yes Steph, but Civil War battles took place days before (and even after) the Civil War ended. What battles took place around the time the Cold War ended? And I'm aware what the Bush Doctrine is. I haven't seen any evidence that Palin hasn't bothered to learn anything about it.

I agree with that, Harmony. I was simply disagreeing with the assertion that she had made this about abortion and gay marriage when she hasn't brought them up much, if at all.

Lil, there was no shooting at Appomattox either, but I doubt anyone with sense would claim that the Civil War ended without a shot fired. To be so disinterested in the job you are asking for, even though you knew that you might be asking for it, that you don't even bother to learn something like the Bush Doctrine - which is by the way, a guiding principle for the war she just sent her son to fight - is an outrageous insult to this country and all the men and women who have given their lives to it in government service, military service or citizenship. It suggests that she simply is a political dilettante.

Well lil Palin hasn't mentioned much of anything since she won't talk about what she actually stands for about anything so people have to refer back to what she's said in interviews before she was the running mate.

I certainly didn't think Steph's initial comment was rude, nor did I report it, nor do I think it should be reported. It's interesting that you would automatically assume that the comment to which I was referring.

Actually, scissors, I was referring to any comment that anyone finds disrespectful, seeing as Team had to come in and tell us to make sure to respect each other. I didn't point out a mistake about a spelling error. I think the spelling error comment was one of the disrespectful ones. I also think the way people responded was rude. And no one is making this about one person's opinion. She is the person who offered her opinion, so we evaluated it. Did you see the entire interview with Gibson? Both nights?Regardless of whether you did or not, I think it's important to remember that Gibson was asking the questions. It's difficult to respond to a question about Georgia with an answer about the health care crisis. If Palin redirected his questions, she would have been accused of dodging them. I fail to see how the fact that she said she thinks Obama wishes he had picked Clinton is disrespectful to the country. Even if you look at the smaller scale, I also fail to see how it is disrespectful to Biden, Clinton, and Obama (and their respective supporters). Every time someone questions a decision of Obama's, it is not out of disrespect for him. Many political pundits from both sides of the aisle believe Obama would be polling better had he chosen Clinton.When did Palin mention abortion or gay marriage? I have heard a lot of focus from others on her stances on these issues, but very little focus from her on these issues. And Palin was never a member of the Alaskan Independence Party, according to Fact Check.org and various other sources.

1. you're all getting entirely too hyped on 1 person's opinion. There can be a lot of ways that people who may not agree with Sarah Palin find her disrespectful. Number 1 when she said that she "thinks obama regrets picking hillary now". Wtf. just cause you're a woman doesn't mean that she has the right to make that claim. That's disrespectful to Obama and to hillary's voters. I mean lets be honest had obama picked hillary sarah wouldn't be where she is right now. we all know that. And also she really isn't picking up a lot of hillary's support. Who is she to say that?! and as if Joe Biden is underqualified?!?! pleaseeeeeee. That's disrespectful to Joe. number 2 in her interview with Charlie she kept saying she knows what the country wants, she knows what her people of alaska want (yes cause what they need and want is a 13 million dollar sports complex). SHE DIDNT TALK ABOUT HEALTHCARE, JOBS, or HOUSING CRISIS once!!! Leave it to the Republicans to keep picking at the social issues like abortion and gay marriage and say nothing about the struggle of the middle class or health care. IT DISRESPECTS ME WHEN AS A CANIDATE YOU DONT TALK ABOUT ISSUES THAT MATTER! she disrespects the country when she ignores our most MAJOR issues. number 3. The point of different opinions is to say what you feel and she wasn't offending you or attacking you so she has every right to say it.And honestly if you would report her for that that's foolish. As for the experience, her name came up months ago. This is clearly something she'd been thinking about for a while. I don't think having a strong desire to reform the country and strong support for your party's ideals indicates disrespect for your country.

And as for the Bush Doctrine, historians admit that the definition of the Bush Doctrine is constantly changing and that it has evolved as many as seven different times. The proximity to Russia was an answer about Russia in general and is not indicative of her entire scope of knowledge about foreign affairs.

Also, the Cold War heated up several times, but the ending of it didn't require a single shot to be fired.

Stephley - Those are interesting arguments as to why you think she isn't ready to run the country (She's going to be the VP, by the way), but I don't see anywhere in there where she is showing disrespect for this country. Got anything more along those lines?
