I don't think it's bad to ask for a meal to be made the way you want it whether you do it because you don't like the item or your allergic to it. madhatter 6 years I think it's okay to pull the allergy card at a house when you didn't know about the menu, but at a restaurant, just ask for it on the side if you don't really have an allergy. Do know about allergies of the foods you don't like though. A girl I know lied to the hostess's mom at a party about being allergic to fish, and the mom totally FLIPPED OUT, started taking away silverware from people and sending the girl outside to make sure she wasn't 'contaminated.' The girl eventually fessed up because the mother was nervous. schar 6 years I work in a restaraunt and I hate it when people say that they are allergic. Most of the time it causes a lot of extra effort for the kitchen. If you don't like it then just say you don't want it. It's not like we'll slip it in just because you're not allergic to it. candy apple 6 years i disagree with the above comment. i know it doesnt make much of a difference to the restaurant but i'd still rather they didn't bring me something i know i won't eat. i just really really really hate leaving food on my plate because i know they throw it all away and it's such a waste of food. and coming from a third world country myself, i remember what it's like to not have enough food growing up and just the thought of throwing perfectly good food away makes me sick. if you won't eat it- don't order it! a gentle rain 6 years :rotfl: at calibabi!! I am the pickiest eater out of all of you. Challenge me. I dare you. I'm not against using the food allergy excuse, but only when you cannot possibly might throw up of you eat it. Other than that, shove it around your plate. A tip is to bring prepackaged stuff in your purse, and sneak off to the bathroom and stuff your face so as not to pass out from hunger (or embarrassment) calibabi 6 years my little brother once told a family friend that he was staying with that he was "allergic to toast"...we still make fun of him about it. summer roberts 6 years I am raising my daughters not to be liars, so I just ask them to omit whatever I do not like. vmruby 6 years I know lots of people who say they are allergic to certain foods because they don't like it. When it comes to me if i don't eat it I don't make excuses, it is what it is. kendalheart 6 years See, I knew there were lots of people out there! JBlondie 6 years It must really suck to have severe food allergies. :( I am, on the other hand, a VERY picky eater, so I use that as my excuse all the time! kendalheart 6 years Hey now I am in NO way mocking anyone, I'm just saying sorry that you have allergies but just because I use that, doesn't make your allergies any less. Read up girlie. KrisSugar 6 years sorry you are allergic to those things tiffsniff. :( it must be really difficult to have to go through life examining and questioning restaurants about your food. but if it keeps onions out of kendalhearts food, then i don't see why it's that bad. kendalheart is happy then. but if she went around mocking people with allergies, we'd have to secretly sneak her some onions. :) fab4 6 years Kendalheart...I do the same thing with onions! I hate them, I can't even smell of them. I say i'm allergic to them all the time kendalheart 6 years Just because someone was not careful with your real allergy doesn't mean that because other people don't "admit" to disliking a food doesn't mean your going to get someone who actually cares more. And just because my dislike of a food isn't life threatening, I still refuse to eat food with onions in it. So if the only way I can get this is by saying I am allergic, then I am fine with that. I have to say, your being a bit over reactive about that. It doesn't take away from your allergy or the seriousness of the situation! tiffsniff 6 years Actually - can I disagree with this one? I suffer from SEVERE food allergies - as in, I could die if I eat something touched with the same cooking utensil. People who pretend to have allergies drive me crazy, because it creates a sense that they aren't as serious as they are. I was hospitalized once after eating a fish taco that was cooked in oil that had previously been used to cook shrimp (to which I'm allergic). The manager of the store didn't think it was a big deal, because he'd never seen an actual food allergy or allergic reaction. Have the guts to say you don't like something, and leave the life-threatening conditions to those of us who know what we're talking about! (Thanks for indulging me!) kendalheart 6 years That is hilarious! I hate onions with a passion and my ex used to just tell restaurants that I was allergic so they wouldn't even cook with the same utensils! I still use it ;) You Might Also Like Sex Sep 17, 2010 Love and Loss: Virginity Poll Results Bikini Jan 08, 2010 Ashley Credits Twilight For Beach Bod, Bradley Skinny-Dips, & Teri's Striptease Victoria's Secret fashion show Nov 12, 2013 5 Sexy Men Who Wake Up Next to Victoria's Secret Angels!
